Really low temps? what gives?
So this is my first month temping. I went out and bought the CVS brand BBT. I've been taking my temp for 3 days now as soon as I wake up and it seems really low:
Monday: 97.3 Tuesday: 96.5 Wednesday: 96.3
Dh says that it doesn't sound right. I've been entering the temps on My Monthly Cycles, but last night I figured I would also use a manual chart, but there are not slots for a temp that low. Am I doing something wrong? I'd hate to waste my time taking my temp every morning if its not going to work anyway.

Re: Really low temps? what gives?
There are some months that I have really low temps like the ones you mentioned. it doesn't really matter what the actual temps are. You just need to see the rise and fall of the temps in a pattern.
HTH and good look temping

Re: Really low temps? what gives?
That's normal...everyone's temp varies a little. During and right after AF my temp is around 97.6-96.8 (once it was 96.4). After ovulation, it's usually between 97.5-98.3. I think my temp is normally on the lower side. I've noticed some people have temps that are higher. Good luck!

Re: Really low temps? what gives?
Thanks girls. I actually just set up an account on fertility friend and I see that they have slots for temps in the 96's too. I feel better now

Re: Really low temps? what gives?
I have the same BBT and kept getting low readings as well. I called my doctor and she assured me that "Normal" body temperature is just an average not an exact number. Also, does your BBT read Lo, when you first turn it on?

I agree that the temps sound pretty normal and not to worry. With that being said, if you temp for a few months and feel the temps seem low all the time - you could have your thyroid checked - i think i read in TCOYF that all around low temps can signify hypothyroidsm

I agree with the other girls....its more important to look at the pattern and overall picture rather than just looking at each temperature. Also, sleeping with the AC on will make your temp lower if you are cold and whatnot.

Re: Really low temps? what gives?
The thing that sounds weird is that your temp dropped a whole degree, especially if your period started on Monday (I assume that's why you started temping on that day). Before ovulation, I think they only usually fluctuate about half a degree, and they tend to go up as you approach ovulation, not down.
Are you taking your temps at the same time every day, after roughly the same amount of sleep (6 hours, etc.)?

Yes, it's been different times:
Monday - 9:45am - 97.3 Tuesday - 5:30am - 96.5 Wednesday - 5:00am - 96.6 Thursday - 5:30am - 97.2
I'm still really new to this. I made DH take his temp too to see if it was me or the thermometer and he was in the 96's too. I also used my regular thermometer to compare and it was only a few tenths higher. Wierd.
