Strategy I would like to share

My cousin hosted a party yesterday at his home.

He was expecting 30 people including us.

I got there and realized that even though he prepped most of the food, there was a ton of work to do.

I ended up doing a lot...to the point where one of his guests who didn't know me asked him if I was the caterer.

I love doing that stuff and I didn't mind. When I finally sat down to have a bite 5 hours later I thought about the strategy.

Go to a party with a ton of food sitting in front of you and instead of sitting and staring at it and eating all of it, get up off your butt and help as much as you can.

I'm exhausted from it and I gave myself 4 activity points. I literally didn't stop for 5 hours.

I ended up over my points for the day doing all of that. Imagine if I just sat and ate?!!!

eta: I was expecting him to have low fat dips and such but everything was full fat. I was doomed! I decided right there I needed to get away from everything. Nachos, potato chips with onion dip, hummus and pita hips (I ate that),..you get the picture.

You know I never thought of it as a strategy but you're absolutely correct! I cook at my FILs BBQ every year and I never really get to touch anything because i'm too busy 'manning' the grill! I never really thought about that!

I was so tired and really not hungry after but I had a little of everything.

No dessert either. Boy I really wanted the cannolis.

Re: Strategy I would like to share

That's exactly what I do now. My friends all say to me that I need to sit down and relax and I tell them I can't do that because then I'll eat all the food. So when I go to parties now I ask to help out or I'll walk around and pick up plates and cups. It keeps me moving and away from the food.

I do that all the time. I rather get up and help then sit there and eat....
