Sensitivity of HPT's?

I'm a regular poster in hiding. I'm about 13dpo and AF is expected tomorrow.

I took a Clear Blue Easy test yesterday afternoon, not digital the one with the plus for positive and just a horizontal line for negative. I got a very very faint line. Almost like a shadow of "this is where a line would be if there was a line"

I took a digital FRER this morning with FMU and got a "No".

I just took (not FMU) another one of the Clear Blue Easy tests and got another very very very faint line. I made DH look to confirm I wasn't imagining. He said it looks like a "Maybe" not a BFP or BFN

What gives? Think the CBE is giving a false reading? ...or mabybe the FRER digital just isn't as sensitive?

Re: Sensitivity of HPT's?

I do know the digital ones are not as sensitive so I would wait a day and try again. Some of the digital ones don't read until after you have missed. .

Are those the blue dye tests? The blue dye tests are know to have false positives - hopefully thats not the case but i would definately keep testing each day with FMU and use the FRER or digitals.

Good luck!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Digitals aren't as sensitive-wait 2-3 days and test again.

The digitals are not as sensitive. When I was pregnant with my DD I was testing positive with FRER for about 3 days before getting a BFP on the digital. It might be early on and there isn't enough hcG in your system for a strong BFP just yet however........a line is a line no matter how faint. I would wait a day or two and then test again. Good luck! EDIT - I agree with the above poster who mentioned the blue dye tests. They are more likely to show a false positive due to evap lines than a pink dye test so I would test with FRER to be sure. I am not a fan of the blue dye HPT's.
