TTC and irregularities
I never in my "youth" had any irregularities with AF--you coulda set your calendar by me. Then I turned 28 and I started with all this spotting between periods. often it was mid-month and for several days, but during some cycles, not at all.
my previous gyn did a histeroscopy (camera in the uterus) and said i had blood producing glands in the muscular layer of my uterus...probably.
switched to a new gyn and she said that was kind of crazy and only a very remote possibility because i don't fit the profile, so we were back to no explanation for spotting.
in october, i had a miscarriage, and the spotting pretty much went away for awhile. april 2010 rolled around and i spotted for 2-3 days at a time intermittently throughout the month.
in may (our first month of TTC again since the MC), AF was 4 days late (came on CD 32 when I usually have a 27 day cycle) and only a light bleed. i had been using OPK sticks for days 12-20 and never got a positive. i made a dr. appointment to talk about ovulation because i was afraid that i wasn't. i talked about all of these things with the dr. and he basically acted like i was being paranoid and emotional..."do you really think you're not going to get pregnant?" and then agreed to do a 21 day progesterone to confirm/find out if i ovulated. i;m scheduled for that on 7/10.
now i'm on CD 9 of the june cycle, and i've been spotting lightly for 3 days with cramps and backache. i'm supposed to start OPK & BD tomorrow, which should be interesting while i'm bleeding.
TTC is making me crazy. any insight?

Re: TTC and irregularities
First of all, you should never be with an OB who makes you feel crazy. Think about it - you know your body better than ANYONE, and if you feel like there is something "off" then there most likely is. He might have a medical degree but he doesn't live with you 24/7
Secondly, depending on when you are spotting, it could be related to O. Some women spot when they O. But it seems that CD9 is too early for you to O, so I don't know about that.
Do yourself a big, big favor. If you don't get a conclusive answer at your next appointment, find an OB who will listen to you and not brush you off. Good luck

Re: TTC and irregularities
thank you for taking the time to respond.
the spotting is not letting up (so far CD 7,8,9, 11, and now 12) and has been a little too heavy to be o bleeding. at this point i guess i'm waiting on the cd21 progesterone check, and then i'll deal with my doctor.

Re: TTC and irregularities
I definately agree with PP that you should feel comfortable with your dr and if you feel they arent concerned enough with your concerns that definately try someone else
i always thought that spotting mid cycle indictated a progesterone problem - but i coudl be wrong

Re: TTC and irregularities
I agree with the other ladies. You should feal at ease when going to your doctors. The questions, procedures, etc. are so intimate that you want to feel comfortable with the Dr. you are discussing these issues with.
I used to get a lot of spotting and that was during the times I was supposedly ovulating. I went and had some test done and was then diagnosed with PCOS, Edometriosis and fond out that I do not ovulate regularly. So I was placed on Metformin and now Clomid. Try asking your Dr. if this could be a possiblity and have them run some tests.
Good luck and don't worry it will happen.
