In this heat that type of plants needs a LOT of water at least two times a day. I don't think that's the store's fault. My impatiens will look like that if I miss one watering in this weather.
It will come back, but it needs a ton of water. Also, New Guinea impatiens need more sunlight than regular impatiens that love the shade.
Pull off the obviously dead (i.e., brown) leaves and keep watering it multiple times per day. Even once it looks healthy, it'll still need a lot of water -- probably twice a day, especially in this heat!

That is is the problem with our society, we give up on things too easily. I love the plant updates and I bet it makes a full comeback :)

i agree - its not the plants fault it didn't get watered!
i have several of these hanging impatience plants and they all do the same thing if not watered every day in this heat. But they do amazingly come back as soon as you apply a little tlc

Oh no, I missed all this "drama" my plant caused! Sorry. It was looking kind of the same for a while so I stopped updating, but I added pics from today - a full week later. Pretty good, right?! I'm so happy you guys talked me into keeping it. I'm really enjoying caring for it, monitoring it (talking to it... shhh, don't tell the DH but I think it likes the soothing words...).
