UPDATE So I made a doctor appointment...
Ive been having some crazy cycles and its really starting to get to me so I decided for my own piece of mind it was time to call the doctor and just make sure everything is ok.
I was so afraid the office was going to tell me that I havent been trying long enough to worry, but thank GOD they didnt. I told them we have been trying for a few months but I guess since my cycles are crazy they are going to see me.
Anyway they said they are gonna do a sono and take it from there. I have never been diagnosed with anything before and never had any surgery ever. Now when they say sono, anyone know if its an internal or an external? Of course after getting off the phone I think of these things. I also feel like AF MAY be coming to town so im afraid that I might have to cancel if its an internal.
Thoughts? Advice?
UPDATE:
So I just got back from my dr appt!! Ok so I had a sono done externally and internally. Wasnt too bad at all. The sono tech told me the ovaries and uterus look good and that I recently ovulated So she told me to get busy this weekend. See this is where I was confused bc I thought if I already ovulated then im done???
Anyway I spoke to my dr and he said to either take Clomid, Metaform, provera, or keep on trying naturally. All these pills will help bring on a period so I dunno what i am gonna do. If the sono tech said I recently ovulated, I dont wanna take a chance and take anything right now KWIM? The dr had to run out and i really didnt get to ask questions since a woman was in labor and dialated at 9 cm and no where near a hospital! Needless to say the office was a bit hectic. DH and I are going to have a discussion tonight about all this.
I also just started doing the acupunture and drinking the red raspberry tea so maybe its all working for me? Im not sure if I should just continue doing all this and see what happens? Ughh decisions decisions.

Re: So I made a doctor appointment...
I have no idea what exactly they are going to look for, but it will most likely be an internal so they can see your ovaries, uterus etc.
Good luck!!

Re: So I made a doctor appointment...
First of all, the office receptionist is not going to tell you not to come in if you want to get checked out. She's not a doctor and will never diagnose you by saying you don't have a problem. Never be afraid that you are going to be dismissed over the phone.
As for the exam... I've never been to the GYN just to 'chat' - you'll always end up in those stirrups, so be prepared!
btw, I'm going to my doc for the same thing next week. I have irregular cycles, no ovulation as far as I can tell, and have been ttc only for a couple of months. But if I'm not ovulating, I could ttc for years with no success, so why not get checked out now and see if there is a fixable problem? I'm sure I'll be a nervous wreck before the appointment so I'll keep you guys updated on this board with what they do and how it goes.

Re: So I made a doctor appointment...
i would guess the sono would be internal. i dont think there is anything to see externally if you arent pregnant.
as for AF, i would call and double check that they dont want you to come in anyway. all RE's see patients with AF all the time, its pretty much a requirement since a lot of baseline testing is done on or about CD3. so its possible that if you are going for any kind of testing, that it might be perfect timing.

Re: So I made a doctor appointment...
I've had both external and internal sonograms of my ovaries in the past. In fact, most of the time they do external first (which is so friggin painful because you have to have a full bladder and I hate hate hate that feeling so much). I think of the 6 or so times I've been checked for cysts over the past 10 years, it's been half and half as far as internal and external go. (One time they had to do internal since I threw up all the dang water before I got to the doctor's office...)
They have seemed to have a problem when I hadn't had a cycle in a really long time because the lining would be really thick. I don't think they ever had me come in when AF was there, though. I'd call and see if they want you to reschedule if that happens before going in and having to pay the copay or deductible twice.
Good luck to you!!!

Agreed. Also, as far as external and internal.. I am 10 weeks pregnant and my OB still did an internal sono! I think it's a pretty safe bet that your sono will be internal- but it's really nothing!! Modesty pretty much goes out the window at all points of pregnancy! (so may as well get used to it before the pregnancy happens!)

Re: UPDATE So I made a doctor appointment...
I’m sorry you’re going through this. I just want to urge you to see an RE before starting medications like Clomid and Metformin. OB/Gyns are not specialists in infertility like REs are. I didn’t listen to the advice of several women on here and ended up wasting time with my OB/Gyn. Clomid can really mess with your body and has a 12 cycle lifetime maximum. You also have to be very closely monitored while on it with bloodwork and sonos. Metformin is used in cases where the woman has PCOS. Why your doctor would advise you to begin either of these without first doing tests is beyond me. OB/Gyns are way too quick to prescribe these two meds.
If you’re concerned that there may be an issue, I would schedule an appointment with an RE and get scripts for testing in the meantime from your OB/Gyn. You can ask for a SA for your DH, an HSG for you, as well as CD3 bloodwork. Good luck!!

Re: UPDATE So I made a doctor appointment...
This is a good update! I'm sorry they couldn't take more time with you today, but knowing that everything looks good and there are no masses is excellent!
I agree with him... if you ovulated just recently, it's possible you can get pregnant within a few days. The tech would be able to tell if your liner was really thick, indicating that your period was imminent. It's my understanding that you can get pregnant by having sex about 5 days before or after you ovulate, depending on how fast everything travels. Worth a shot, isn't it?
Will the doctor call you to discuss results and options further? You shouldn't have to make a decision about what path to take on your own. Doctors can't expect you to know the implications of whatever decision you make without explaining each option in detail.
Wishing you lots of good luck & baby dust!

ITA. Especially since your dr. told you you could take any of these medications to bring on a period, it sounds like he not too well versed in this area. The only one of those meds that would be used to bring on a period is provera. Metformin is for women with PCOS who have insulin resistance and clomid is a fertility medication. Please see an RE before proceeding any further.

Just wanted to chime in that you can get pregnant by having sex 5 days before you ovulate (if you're young and very fertile and have tons of EWCM, otherwise it's 1-3 days) and about 24 hours after your ovulate. The egg is only viable for a few hours to a day after it's released. So if you have great timing happened to O this morning and they saw it on the sono, then bd'ing tonight is a good idea.
Thanks again for the update.

Re: UPDATE So I made a doctor appointment...
Thanks for all the responses ladies. I may have not gotten the stories straight on the meds the dr was describing to me since he kept on getting interrupted about the woman in labor.
I think I feel so much better knowing that nothing is physically wrong with the ovaries or uterus. Since the tech said that I ovulated recently and to "get busy this weekened" I am gonna give this a shot. If we are out this month, then I will make an appt with the dr to go further about the options. I have been doing acupuncture and the doctor said if I feel its working for me then to continue to do that. Im so happy that he didnt just dismiss the idea.
DH and I discussed tonight the options and for now we are not going to do any meds and continue with the acupuncture and all weekend. If we are out then we will go back to the drawing boards and make a decision together for next month. Lemme tell you this 2ww for us is going to be a cake walk since ive been waiting since April 29 for AF! lol
Thanks for all the advice and support!

Unfortunately the last time we BD was last Friday since I wasnt feeling well all week so if there were any swimmers left then its a miracle.
