New to TTC

Hi Everyone! I am a new addition to the boards. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for over a year. After using the ovulation predictor tests for a few months, I realized I wasn't ovulating (either that or I had bad luck choosing defective tests! Chat Icon). In addition, in November I had stopped getting my period on a monthly basis and instead, I was getting it every 70-75 days. I made a visit to my gyno, she went through further testing and found that I have POS. She said that POS tricks my body into thinking that I am pregnant; which is why I am not ovulating. My doctor gave me a prescription for provera; to bring on my period and a prescription for clomid. She told me to start taking the clomid on days 5-9 and then to schedule an appointment to see her on day 14.

Now on to the possible stupid questions:

1. I got my period on Thursday night (late, around 9:30pm). Does this still count as Day 1 or would I count Friday as Day 1?

2. If I count Thursday as Day 1, then I already screwed up and missed taking the first clomid on Day 5; which would have been yesterday. Is this a big deal? Should I call my DR to let her know?

3. Finally, does the DR want to see me on Day 14 to see if I am ovulating? Does this mean NO sex before Day 14?

Thanks for your help! I am new to this and to be honest, I feel somewhat overwhelmed! Chat Icon

Re: New to TTC

Hello and welcome! I hope your stay here is short!

1. Did you have full flow on Thursday? If so, then yes, I would count that as CD1. Some may say no, but my doc counts that as CD1.

2. I would call your doc and ask if you should start on CD6 instead. It should be fine.

3. The doc will prob do a sono to see if the Clomid is helping you to produce eggs. They should be able to tell about when you'll O. You can Chat Icon all you want.

One thing you should know about Clomid is you can only take it for 12 cycles max in your lifetime. You should be monitored closely while on it because it can thin your lining and you can hyperstim. I've done 3 Clomid cycles and haven't had any issues except extreme mood swings.

Also, I highly suggest seeing an RE, especially after TTC for a year. I wasted time with my OB/Gyn, which the girls on here warned me about, and am now going to see an RE. OB/Gyn's just don't know as much about fertility as REs do. Good luck!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thank you so much for responding! I will call my DR now to make sure day 6 is not a big deal.

Thank you for the baby dust! Chat Icon

I just spoke with the Dr. and she said counting Friday as day 1 is fine and therefore today would be day 5 and ready to begin clomid! I have my day 14 appointment made, so I guess I am ready to get started!

Thank you everyone! This will be my first time trying this, so I am hopeful but nervous!
