Updated - Need Motivation Please - New to this Board
I am the heaviest I have ever been & I don't like myself at all. I need motivation please. As I'm sitting here eating french fries with my tuna melt. I just can't get motivated. What motivated you? Any advise would be great everyone! Thanks!
UPDATE: I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their stories and motivation. I actually did Yoga last night and eat a good dinner. Cleaned the house a little too. I feel better this morning, but I will still need support with this. I know I can come on here and get some too.
Thanks!!!

The site of my *** in my mirror? Honestly, I just got tired of being unhappy with the way I looked. I was tired of seeing it, tired of thinking about it, just over it.
If you want to drive out to Smithtown on Tuesday nights Im starting a kickboxing class next week!

Oh I hear being tired of it. I guess I just need to be pushed that extra step. Of course when I had to buy larger pants because of it, I just cryed and didn't do anything about it. OK, I have to get off the soap box and do something. I might have to go back to WW. We have it at work actually.
I don't think I would make it through a kickboxing class. You would be picking me up off the floor.

"My husband will never leave me for a hot 25 year old"
Just kidding.... I guess it's just I like to be able to put on anything in my closet and it fits. I rarely say this but I mentioned it on my b-pics post, I HATE my face, so I try to make up with it by my body. Body I can do something about, face not really
I REALLY feel the key is a good relationship with food. It's so much LESS about working out and so much more about what you eat. Most people use food for comfort or reward and as a social event. It’s learning that food is supposed to be fuel. It’s finding other outlets for comfort and reward… like buying a new pair of sexy jeans.
Eating a correct portion size and trying to eat REAL FOOD, not shakes and bars. I watched a lot of documentaries on food, how your body uses it, what’s IN the food we’re eating today, how our bodies have changed over the years. I really enjoy learning about it and knowing no matter what I look like that I am at least healthy.
It’s really from within, it’s just wanting to change your life in a small way that you can control. It’s NOT about dieting, diets are short term, it’s about lifestyle changes and not viewing food as the enemy. I feel like I could go on for pages and pages on it. I LOVE fitness and nutrition and love talking about it.

Keep talking girl. Please.
"My husband will never leave me for a hot 25 year old" - Maybe I should really think about this. Not that my DH would, but......good motivation.
You are right about what you said. It's not about Diet. I know not to diet. I've done WW serveral times. I love food though. I love eating great foods.
OK, how about this, can you tell me what you eat for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just give me a sample. I already know about portion control through WW, so I got that, but I guess it's the foods I eat. I'm depressed now.

Re: Need Motivation Please - New to this Board
Ok, while Ive been losing weight, this is roughly what my menu looks like:
Bfast: oatmeal with splenda, eggwhites on toast with S&P, special K bar, vitalicious vitatop muffins, half a bagel with low fat cream cheese
Lunch: lots of turkey subway sandwiches, PBandJ on wheat, with low sugar jelly and reduced fat PB, cucumber salad, tomato salad, wraps, grilled chicken, the green giant just for one servings of veggies
Dinner: regular dinner foods, just small portions, easy on the condiments, TONS of veggies
Snacks: a lot of the 100 calorie snack packs.
WW has some FANTASTIC recipes online. If you dont want to join and do WW, Ill give you my log in info so you can at least access the recipes through my account if you want.

Re: Need Motivation Please - New to this Board
Mel thank you so much for giving me ideas of what you eat. I find breakfast is the hardest for some reason. I love cheese and I know I eat way too much of it.
Thanks for the offer about WW online, but I still have my membership. I need to look for some new recipes to make us especially for dinner. Maybe I will break out my binder and look at my recipes. Thanks Mel!

I'm depressed now.
CR@P, I didn't mean to do that!!!!
No, no Kara, it wasn't what you said. I made myself depressed. I swear!
Thank you for all the suggestions. That is really helpful. I love pasta, so that is a hard one and breads. I'm Italian! But I can work better on portion control for the pasta and whole wheat breads. No problem there. I am a picky eater too and so I don't eat a lot of veggies, because I don't like them, but there are plenty I like too. I have IBS so I have to watch what I eat anyway. That is what drives me nuts really. I don't really eat that bad. Nothing to high in fats or fried. Those bother me. So it's weird that I have gained all the weight that I have gained. But I think I have been lazy. Both me & my DH have been lazy over the last year. I'm going to kick both of our butts and that is the end of it.
If anyone can think of other good suggestions for foods, please let me know. Keep it coming everyone. This is good motivation right here. Now hopefully I will go home and do Yoga tonight! I love yoga!

I actually have one of Hungry Girls recipe books. I forgot about it. See I have all the tools, now I just need to want to use them. I might buy these recipe books as well. Do you already have them at home? If you do, I would love to take a look at them first before buying them. I like to make sure I will use them. Thanks!

Re: Need Motivation Please - New to this Board
Motivation is 99%.
2.5 weeks ago I was the heaviest I have EVER been. In 1.5 years, I had gained all the baby weight I had lost. So I was as heavy as I was PG with DS.
I have rolls. I looked disgusting. I had to start buying clothes at Lane Bryant.
I don't mean to be insulting but this is how "I" felt. I was 111 Lbs in my mid/late 20's. I was a size 4.
I am FAR from a size 4.
But enough was enough. I had to do something. I decided to do WW online. I don't have to go to meetings. I eat regular food so there are no transitioning back to "normal" food later. I am just getting myself in the mode back to eating healthy meals. No more take outs. Now I just cook. And portion control. The take out were getting insane. Calorie intake was out of control.
I am not sure why one day, that was it for me. Because I told myself that for 1.5 years now. But suddenly I had had it and that was it.
I lost about 9 Lbs or so in 2.5 weeks. Except from gardening I don't workout.
DH is doing it with me. It's VERY helpful.
I also have to make sure that I have food at hand to cook at all times. Today I did not have chicken cooked so I had a soup. Opening the fridge with no meals ready is the key for me to eat bad. Salami and cheese still call my name. I have to make sure I have healthy cooked supplies at all time so I don't go back to temptations of quick food.
ETA: Check "gina's recipes" online. They are great!

Re: Need Motivation Please - New to this Board
I've done WW 2 times.
The first time was after I got married but before I got pregnant. I had put on 25 pounds.
I couldn't believe the scale. I was tired of looking and feeling like that. I was tired of nothing fitting. I felt like I was letting DH down (not that he really cared). I joined WW and lost it all in 4 months. Then I got pregnant.
The second time was after DS was born.
I'm lucky in that after my kids are born I drop weight without trying-25 pounds just melts off of me while I eat pretty much whatever.
However, after DD, I didn't adjust to lose the remaining weight and I kept eating. Eventually, the scale went in the other direction and it piled back on.
When I got pregnant with DS I weighed as much as I did when I was 9 months pregnant with DD. I was sick with myself.
I minimized the weight gain with DS (30 pounds gained instead of 43) and after he was born, the weight melted off again-25 pounds. Then, I put 5 pounds back on. I said NOT AGAIN! and I joined WW.
Now, I've lost all of DS's weight and a good chunk of DD's weight. I have 20 pounds to go to get to my pre-preggo weight.
I'm not going to lie. It is difficult. I have being doing this since February and every day is hard. But, everyday I get through it I feel good about myself as opposed to the days when I didn't do it.
It's also really important for me to make mini goals. They keep me going. And, joining the mommy makeover and stuff like that gives me support too.
I think I've finally accepted that I cannot eat how I used to eat-at least not on a regular basis. Treats really do need to be treats-a once in a while thing not an everyday expectation.
It's hard-you have to find the motivation anew everyday. Everyday. But as you see improvements, it gets a little easier to go the distance.

smdl - congrats on your 9lb lose. And in 2.5 weeks, that is great. Now that is motivation right there. I'm going to check out Gina's recipes.
Thanks for sharing your story with me. I completely understand where you are coming from. I just have to put my foot down and say "NO"!!! And start doing something about it. Get a little mad about it even. I think I'm going to take some before pics for myself only. Hopefully that will help me and motivate me.

Re: Need Motivation Please - New to this Board
crankypants - thanks for sharing your story. It is super hard. I've dieted in the past, I've exercise & I've been super movitivated and have done it and have been really happy. I think some of this has to do with almost turning 40. It is harder the older you get. I think that is what has happened at this point. I can't just eat whatever I want anymore and just gain/loss a little here and there. It's time to really get down into it.
I will do Yoga tonight! And I will NOT just sit on the couch and watch TV. I will eat something sensible and not just something easy. Day by Day!!!

Re: Updated - Need Motivation Please - New to this Board
My motivation was my daughter. We went pumpkin picking this past October and DD picked out one pumpkin for each member of the family. When we got in the car I asked her which pumpkin was for me. She told me the short fat pumpkin was mine because I was short and fat. It was the innocence of a 5 year old that finally got my butt in gear. I started a diet the next day and a week after I joined weight watchers. 55 pounds later I am so much happier and healthier. I will never go back to eating how I ate before and can't imagine resuming a lifestyle where I don't workout at least 3 times a week.
I know where you are coming from. I spent years not knowing where to begin and just being so sick of myself and how I looked. When DH and I started dating I was fit and thin. Over the years I gained 100 pounds!!!! Now I am about 40 pounds away from my goal and I know I will get there eventually. It probably won't be this year but I am hoping by next spring I will be at my goal weight. You have to be ready to make the change. After a few weeks you'll start feeling so good that you won't even miss all the crap you used to eat.

Re: Updated - Need Motivation Please - New to this Board
oh the things kids say. Thank you for sharing your story with me. Sometimes it does take that slap in the face to get us motivated right? And all the weight you lost, that is amazing. Congrats!
I've been doing better with eating and I will continue to try and motivate myself and eat better and really watch what I'm eating. Sometimes you "think" what you are eating is ok, but then you find out how bad something is and then you know how you have gained all of the weight! Well I will be staying away from that kind of food as much as possible.
Thanks for sharing & the motivation!
