Re: painted cabinets
We did this as a temp fix until we redo the kitchen. It's a bit of a PIA but I find it's not as bad as you would think.

Re: painted cabinets
Not so bad. I just wipe them down with clorox wipes when needed. I can give them a fairly good scrubbing with no problem. I did read a great article with great tips AFTER I painted my cabinets that said to use marine paint on your cabinets because it's so tough and you can scrub the heck out of it with no problems. But honestly, regular latex paint has held up so far.

Re: painted cabinets
we painted ours at our old house with oil based paint that was really glossy that was they were really easy to clean. we did a lot of prep work on the cabinets before we painted them so that they would not only hold up but look good. my stepdad is a contractor who specializes in painting and wallpapering so of course I had a lot of help! If you have any questions feel free to FM
