IVF it is!!! But I'm terrified!!

So after 7 Failed IUI's (some medicated and some not) DH and I decided that it might be time to move forward and learn more about IVF.

We went to 2 different doctors for consults just so we can be able to compare pros and cons, although I knew deep down that if I moved forward with it I would be using my current doc Dr B. (by the way Dr. B was SO awesome during the consult)

It was so much information to take it and a bit overwhelming but now that I have had time to sit and let it all sink in... I'm ready to move forward. still scared as he!! but ready.
I guess im just scared of all the meds and # of injections I will have to give myself.

We have decided that we are going to be starting with Dr. B probably come August.
I would start right away but since this is all going to be out of pocket for us.. I gotta give it some times to gather the rest of the $$.

Does anyone else have any experience with insurance that doesn't cover the IVF?
Do they cover any meds?

Anyone have any words of wisdom to keep me calm??

Re: IVF it is!!! But I'm terrified!!

I was scared too, its all so overwhelming in the beginning. I had gone through two surgeries, to clear out scars in my uterus, HRT for 30 days, and when I finally got my period, I was cleared to start. I almost passed out, but I went forward and so happy I did it b/c I'm now 16 weeks PG!
As far as insurance, I had to pay OOP too, but luckily got my meds from a friend who had gone through this before; it really helped. I have seen some people pay OOP for the procedure, but have coverage for meds, you would have to check with your carrier, or your RE may know this already.
Good Luck!

I am scared outta my mind....but i am even more scared of never even trying. I had a bunch of failed IUIs also and start my first (and hopefully LAST) IVF this month. I have to be on BC for three weeks and im only on day 3, so i have a bit to go. I am trying to NOT think ahead too much because i know i will get overwhelmed. Best of luck to you.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ur def right I would be scared of not moving forward and "letting things just happen". then looking back in 5 years and still no luck.
Im taking it one step at a time. My plan is to start in Aug taking the BCP and then going on a mini vaca to make time move along ( if I can with$$ and all).
Good luck on ur journey!! i hope its not too torturous Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was scared out of my mind when I went for my IVF too. It feels like your head is going to explode with everything that they tell you. Its very over whelming. Dont be nervous you are in very good hands with Dr.B, he is amazing and so is his staff. About the injectables after a week you will be a pro, it becomes like second nature to you. Best of luck to youChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
