My sister just had her second try at invetro. The first time they took 15 eggs, 7 fertalized, she was implanted with 2. Then had an early miscarriage. The 5 that where left died and could not be frozen. This time they took 10 eggs, 9 fertalized (6 with donor sperm), she was implanted with 2 (BIL's sperm was used). She finds out on the 16th if they took, but the eggs they didn't use all died. Is this normal??? Did this happen to anyone else??? Why are her eggs not surviving. This is terrible  We're all devestated. It's so unfair... Please  that the two they implanted her with survive
***Thanks so much for all of your prays and sticky vibes!!! They obviously worked because my sister got her BFP yesterday  We are all so excited. I wish you all the same good fortune that has been bestowed upon my sister  !!!

First off I am so sorry for your sister.
I can be totally wrong here, but from what I have read...it's the quality of the embies...not the quantity. So she may have had a lot, but there qualilty wasn't the greatest so they didn't make it to freeze.
Here is some sticky dust for her.

Thanks, is there anything she can do to increase the quality of the eggs? They have her on all kinds of hormone shots and pills already...

Hey, how old is your sister? That sometimes will play a role. There's a lot she can do to change her diet, but many people don't get frosties. Hopefully, it wont matter and she'll get good news next week.

My 1st IVF cycle I had 13 retrieved, 2 put back and none left to freeze The 2 they put back on day 3 were very poor quality but they did get me pg ( but it ended as a chemical pg) That cycle I was on BCP to supress me, along w/ Follistim and another med which I cant recall...
For my 2nd cycle, they changed up my meds and used Lupron, Menopur and Bravelle and I ended up with 26 embies , 4 of which made it to day 5, all blasts, got pg w/ my DD and had 3 left to freeze all excellent quality...
My RE changed to Lupron because he said it could improve quality so that what I attribute the huge difference to :IVF is such trial and error

My first round of IVF, I had 35 eggs, 17 fertilized, one transfered..bfn and none froze. My second cycle, I had 10 eggs, 7 fertilized and had one transfered..bfp. and one froze.
The difference for me was I had better quality embies the second time due to the adjustments in the meds from the first cycle. I was so sick and they kept taking me and then off the drugs then lowering the dose. it all affects the embies.
The second time, we had a better game plan as to how my body would respond to the drugs. It was a very smooth cycle and even tho I produced less eggs, they were better quality.
This may be similar to what your sister is going thru.

*She's only 30, she'll be 31 at the end of the month.

Some women, even when young have high FSH or problems with egg quality, ovarian reserve. I hope this is it for your sis and wish her lots of luck!
