Not think about it?

Does anyone else get annoyed when someone asks you "When are the babies coming?" When you tell them we are TTC, they're solution is "Don't think about it!" It annoys me because no matter how much you try, you can not not think abouit it...had to let it out..Chat Icon

Re: Not think about it?

I get annoyed by the question about when babies are coming generally. Very few people know I am TTC, and I don't really want to talk about it so it just gets me upset.

A friend of mine is 7 months pregnant and her husband spent an half hr at dinner one night joking around about how we should just get pregnant already so our kids can be friends and remarking on how easy it was since she went off BCP and was pregnant 3 weeks later. And here I am, on my 5th month TTC... arggggg

Re: Not think about it?

I HATED that when I was TTC--that and,"you just need to relax." We were trying for awhile and I was having some cycle issues, so it was impossible not to think about it. I think the only people who say that are the ones who got pregnant on the first shot.

Don't worry, I'm here to tell you that I probably thought about it every single minute of the cycle I got my BFP.

I agree completely. But I think the worse is when you hear it from another person who had trouble conceiving. I am happy for you that it happened but how about you try being a bit more sensitive. Chat Icon

Sorry, not having a good day, feeling very irratible.

Re: Not think about it?

DH's grandparents sat us down a few months ago when they found out we were TTC and said the same thing! They were like "if you stop trying, it'll just happen for you" -- we were like... how exactly does that work? If we don't try, how can it just happen? Are we talking Virgin Mary or something???

He told them he got new underwear that's supposed to help (which he kinda did lol but I didn't know that was why!) -- it was probably the funniest response to that I'd ever heard! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ITA agree that sometimes it can be worse from people who had trouble. It drives me nuts when they say things like "I understand how you feel, I went though it." I feel like scremaing, "NO, you don't, you have a child now, you understand what it's like to have trouble but then have all your dreams come true. You don't know what it's like to still wonder every single day if you are ever going to be a mom."

Ok, sorry that's my rant for the day lol

Re: Not think about it?

Even worse than that comment...........

I went through the help of an RE to get pregnant- so clearly, I had fertility issues going on. When people heard I was going through fertility issues, the classic advice was to "just relax".. I can't tell you how many times I heard about someone's sister's uncle's mother's neighbor who got pregnant after 9 unsuccessful years once they "relaxed" and stopped thinking about it!!
