Re: IUI and umm hubbys "stuff"

My DH did it there. Originally we lived about 40 mins from the RE's office so I never wanted to risk it... also you can never predict traffic. We moved and when we did our last IUIs we just lived 15 mins from the office, but my DH was used to "donating" in the office so we just continued to do it that way. It's really not bad at all!! Maybe the first time is uncomfortable (hopefully he will only have a first time! .. or second.. if your are doing B2B)

Are you using Dr.B? If so, it's really bad AT ALL!! Afterward it takes about an hour to wash the sperm before the IUI so I suggest going out for breakfast or lunch rather than sitting and waiting..........

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: IUI and umm hubbys "stuff"

they say you need to get it there within an hour. we live 30 min away so my DH produces at home. he has done it there also. he just prefers to do it at home.

to be honest, it will be a bit easier if he produced there because then you don't need to rush to get to the office.

We were very lucky. We live 3 miles from NSUH so DH was able to do his thing at home. Had he needed to do it there, he was under strict instructions NOT to sit down on ANYTHINGChat Icon

My husband got into a little car accident one day during our second IUI while trying to deliver his "love juice" as he calls it to Dr B's office Chat Icon I'm laughing because it was nothing serious, just a couple of scratches on the side of the car, but they still had to stop and exchange insurance information. He had his pen in one hand writing down the info, and his cup with his "juice" in the other close to his belly to keep it warm Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon He didn't wait for the cops to come because he said he had a medical emergency and he had to go Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Hopefully we'll be sharing with our children these funny stories one day Chat Icon

Re: IUI and umm hubbys "stuff"

We live about 35 mins away from our RE's office. I have the plastic cup labeled with the date, our names and social security numbers the night before...I add the time specimen was produced after he is done. Then I wrap it in tin foil tuck it in my pants and drive like a raging lunatic!!!!! My RE's office says that the specimen needs to be there within 75 mins. I normally get it there in 40!

Re: IUI and umm hubbys "stuff"

My DH does it at Dr. B's office also. At first I was like OMG how awkward!!!! I thought I was going to feel uncomfortable the 1st time he had to do it there lol!!!!! I was actually more relaxed than I thought I would be while we were there. After DH came out, I asked him what the room was like and how much stuff was in there hahahaha!! He told me and we had a good laugh because he said the recliner rocked back and forth!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon He also said he was impressed by Dr. B's collection!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

He wasnt a fan of doing it there 2 days in a row, but he's accepted that this is what we need to do in order to get me pregnant. The 2nd day he went in, I just kept reading my magazine as if nothing out of the ordinary was going on LOL!!!!

Good luck!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I actually have a funny story about this too. DH had to "donate" at American Fertility one time at 745am. We go to the clinic and there was one couple before us. I thought this is great he won't even be late for work. The guy before us took OVER an hour. They only have one room. The nurse kept saying ok "5 more min and then we will knock and check in on him" DH was running really late for work and got so frustrated he ended up asking the nurse for ANY empty room/office LMAO 1 hour and 35 min later he was STILL in there. Finally he was "done" and had to walk back through the tiny waiting room where everyone was. *snickering at him*Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

DH always did it at home we live 30 minutes away and than I put the cup between my boobs and drove it there (a tip I read online) lol. I guess it worked because I'm 29 weeks pregnant now.

It was horrible because at that point the entire waiting room was being delayed BY HIM and everyone was openly talking and giggling while he had to walk through us. If you have been to AF you KNOW how tiny the waiting area is, I felt SO bad for him, he RAN outta there. Even the nurses wereChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

P.S. My DH ended up donating in the bathroom, that was a joke for awhile too, "are you or me going to tell junior he was conceived infront of a urinal in the fertility clinic"
