Re: Queens Girls-- Please Advise on this neighborhood!!
DH's family lives in OP, they are on 87th and I think it's Summit or Sumner. HUGE, HUGE Hindu, Guyanese culture. (DH family is Guyanese). When we go there, it's like Guyana evacuating. LOL. Parking is a NIGHTMARE.

Not my type of neighborhood but to each it's own.
Not mine either but my husband has to go to downtown brooklyn for work everyday so we need something around a subway.
Believe me I lived in the best area of Bayside in a family house before I got married, so no.. this is not my ideal area.
They're actually changing some of the subway lines come end of June!

OP is pretty big. The area she is referring to is Centerville - I think you are referring to an area closer to Richmond Hill. The parking in Centerville is not that bad.
IMO its a good area and we were planning on buying there before we ended up in Howard Beach.

Just wanted to say...I grew up in Glendale...on 64th Lane! Where are you located?
Honestly...I'd stay in Glendale...it's much better than south Ozone Park, for sure!
Wow, Im really close to where you grew up. Im on 67th street/myrtle Ave. If I were to stay in Glendale I would want to move to upper Glendale... like the 70's ad 80's just b/c it quieter and Im looking for a 2 family house not a big building like im in now. I like Glendale BUT im having such a hard time finding a landlord who will allow us to have a washer/dryer... with a baby coming Im really adamant about having it!! Pray I find something around here!!
OMG...get out!! Best years of my life spent in and around 64th Lane!
Upper Glendale is great. My grandmother still lives there...the block after the library. Even further up in Glendale, off of Union by all the tudors...it's great around there.
Good luck!

Re: Queens Girls-- Please Advise on this neighborhood!!
Have you looked into Briarwood, its near the F train and its a very quiet neighborhood; very family oriented with buildings and houses. I've been living there for 5 years. The area is small and it borders Kew Gardens and Flushing.
ETA, most buildings have a laundry room and I've seen a lot of apt.'s for rent in newly constructed bulidings and 2-3 family houses under $1800/mo.

$1400 including everything... I know, its tight!!!
So about $1300 or 1350, before paying electric and cooking gas.

DH and I just bought a house in Ozone Park. It depends on the part of OP you would be buying in. South Ozone Park isn't the greatest neighborhood. Where we bought (centerville) it's nice!
