Feelings on "family name plaques" outside of your home & safety?
I'd love to get one , as I love the way it looks.
However, it got me thinking. Is this a wise thing to do, in terms of safety?
I know anyone can google an address & find the owner's name on blockshopper.com, but what do you think?
Do you have one?

We opted not to put our name up and went with just the street number and address. I didn't want to make it any easier for people, whether they're just a solicitor or someone with other intentions.

Unless you have a mail chute that delivers mail inside the house anybody can walk up to your mailbox and read the names on your mail.

If someone wanted to figure out your name it isnt that hard, but I am still not sure about the name sign, maybe hang it by the back door

Having my last name on the outside of my home will get someone no where. They can get more information if they really wanted to from my mail.

I have a plaque that I change with the seasons that display our last name... I have no issues with it.

I agree that I don't think it poses a safety issue but I am not a fan of putting my last name on my house. I'm more private about personal stuff even though like others mentioned, name and plenty of other info can easily be found online.
