Rec a RE...
I know everyone loves Dr Braverman, but I'd really rather have a woman. I am in Western Suffolk. Someone really really nice and understanding and not intimating or scary! Does such a woman exist?

Re: Rec a RE...
i felt like that at first - but to be honest, dr. braverman covers all of your criteria except he's a man. but the reason everyone on here loves him so much, besides that he is an amazing doctor, is that he has the best bedside manner of any doctor. he is more caring an compassionate than any doctor and most people that i have ever met!!

Re: Rec a RE...
I believe that Dr. Chung works out of NSUH Huntington. Don't know much about her but she is a she!! Also, a Dr. Ruman used to work out of Garden City RMA on Tuesdays...also a she. But, unless you go to a single practitioner practice, you'll see who ever you see. Neither of those women work alone.

Re: Rec a RE...
Wait, so, you won't have just one dr. going through you the whole time? You can't just make an appt with one dr. each time? you have to take whoever is working? I don't understand.
IDK it's going to be hard enough to talk about this stuff w/a woman. I can't imagine talking about it w/a man.

Most of the practices have many doctors so you may see different ones. When I was at NSUH, I could see my guy for most monitoring, but my IUI's always fell on weekends and I got the "on-call" doc. Some places you don't even see the docs for monitoring, just a sono tech. In the world of IF LOTS of people see your who-ha, you get used to it!

I agree with this x 100000000000000
Also, whenever you go, he is the only dr you see because it's his own practice.
Seriously, give up on that woman thing FAST and head over to Dr.Braverman! You won't regret it!!

Re: Rec a RE...
There are usually many doctors at a clinic, male and female, and you see whoever is available at that time, no clinic will guarantee you the same doctor for each visit.
I could have never imagined a QUARTER of the situations I've had to go through in the past 6 months... ..if you told me a year ago that I would be naked from the waist down, laying on an exam table, spread eagle, on day 3 of my cycle!!!!, with a male doctor, sticking my happy who ha with a sonogram stick, I would have said you were nuts, now I strip down, hop up every other day while making small talk with him. Really the "embarrassment" part of it all, goes away REAL fast. Pick a RE according to qualifications, it is one of the MOST important decisions you will EVER make.
P.S. I have been to female obgyns and find them LESS gentle than most male, and Dr,. B is by FAR the most compassionate doc ive ever been to, HANDS DOWN.

ITA, also! The shyness lasts about 2 seconds.
As for a Dr. rec, I see Dr. Zapantis at East Coast Fertility and I could not be happier. Everytime he walks in the room I feel more relaxed, he just has that way about him. They are also a multi doctor practice, as well as multi office. So far I have only seen Dr. Z though, it seems as though as long as there isn't some sort of emergency or time change you get assigned a Dr. in the beginning and stick with them. And if you end up doing IVF you get assigned a nurse that guides you through everything and is "your nurse". I'm ot sure if you get the same thing with IUI's.

Re: Rec a RE...
I have to be honest, except for Dr. Kang at Cornell (who is usually at the Garden City office M-TH), I have not liked any other female RE. I don't know what it is. I've been to 4 different clinics over the past 3 years. Plus like everyone says, if you are at a big clinic the RE's rotate. I never see my RE Dr. Davis at Cornell. Only if I have a consult with him. Its no big deal. You just want someone that knows what they are doing and can get you in/out fast and make the right decisions for you.

Is Dr B an RE?
I am not even sure what a RE is That is just the terminology I have read so that is what I used. I have no clue what I am doing!
New question... office hours? I read the other post w/Dr B's office hours, and that is ok right now since I work PT.. but I am looking for FT time work, and *cross fingers* when I get a job I'll most likely be working until 5 p.m. at least. I just can't imagine a new job letting me take time off - though with my luck I won't have a new job anyway lol
Is it impossible to get Saturday hours?

Re: Rec a RE...
My primary RE was Dr. Chu (a woman) at NSUH. I saw her most of the time, but wound up see whoever was there for monitoring and procedures. As far as office hours, I was able to schedule most of my appointments were before work.

Re: Rec a RE...
I'll be honest with you, the best RE will be the one who gets you PG, female or male as quickly as possible. I saw every doctor at NSUH for one reason or another (except Dr. Hershlag) and I am currently 26 weeks PG with success story #2. I liked having any one of them at my fingertips and I was not in the practice very long. Granted my IF issues were not as extensive as most, but any RE or clinic or office (whatever you want to call them/it) wants to get you a quick diagnosis and PG as fast as humanly possible. I did not want hugs and handholding, I wanted to get PG lickety split. Best of luck and hang in there no matter what choice you make

Re: Rec a RE...
I agree with the above posted...we saw 2 different offices and drs. and we kind of equated them with those wedding factories-they diagnose, it runs like a well oiled machine, and they work to get you pregnant...both offices in our case have lovely staff and convenient hours..we ended up going with one because we felt they wanted/had more information on us, but essentially, the treatment and recommendations were exactly the same...at the office we ended up with, LI IVF, there are women drs., but to be honest, I don't feel like I see the doctor too much...and I just had my first of a B2B IUI...good luck and
