Pre-conception Appt?
My first post, yay!!
This is my first month off BCP and we are going to start TTC in a couple of months. Did you girls schedule a pre-conception dr. appointment before you started trying? My ob mentioned this at my last appointment a few months ago but I'm not sure if it's necessary?
I've been lurking for a little bit and I already feel like I know so much from reading all of these posts, lol!
Thanks for any advice!!

Yes, I did it and found it very informative. They took a pap and blood work.

I am going for my annual this week and have a ton of questions for my doc. I am also going for genric conuseling. Just because we have questions on our family's medical history.

Welcome! I met with my dr. before we began trying. I had some questions and wanted to go for some genetic tests.

We did it.
DH and I both got full physicals, blood work, and dental exams in November, plus I found a new OB/GYN, met with him-did a full exam and spoke about TTC.
I recommend it, just in case there's any medical things you need taken care of before you get knocked up!
ETA: we just started trying in May

We have been trying but I went to the Dr (routine visit) and mentioned that we are TTC. So now he's sending me for bloodwork and HSG and sono to make sure my tubes are open. He also gave me prescription prenatals, but said I could finish up my otc bottle unless I'm pregnant before then. He also told me to start using OPKs.
You probably don't need to, but it can't hurt.

Right around the time we started TTC, I was looking for a new Dr so when I met with my current OB/Gyn, I did a pre TTC consult. We just discussed the basics and I told him some concerns I had and he did an internal sono to make sure everything looked ok.
Like pp said, it doesn't hurt to sit down with your doc and have a consultation.
