Hamburgers

Tis the season. Sounds simple, right?
So, let's hear how you jazz up your hamburgers....

For mother's day I grated some onion, grated cheddar cheese and added some chimichurri marinade. Let it sit for a few hours until we were ready to grill.

They were so tasty and moist. I will be adding marinades from now on!!!

Re: Hamburgers

I like to make my own chopped meat. I do 60% chuck with about 40% NY strip loin. I mince it with about 2-3 cloves of garlic and salt. Make patties and grill.

For toppings, I do sauteed onions and mushrooms together. I also grill pineapples and sometimes fry an egg on the flat plate (it's an Australian thing called 'the works' don't knock it until you've tried it). After that you can pick and choose and I always put tomato and lettuce and beetroot- sooooo good!

Re: Hamburgers

My DH likes to add a packet of the Hidden Valley Ranch powder to the meat with some chopped onions and garlic and then while it is cooking on the grill he pours a little Worcestershire Sauce on the burgers. They come out really moist and yummy.

Re: Hamburgers

Seasoned bread crumbs, browned minced onion, salt, egg and squirt mustard.
Fry 'em in a really hot pan so they get crusty on the outside, stay juicy on the inside.

Re: Hamburgers

I made Southwest Turkey Burgers from a recipe by Rachel Ray...and let me tell you...cooked for a bbq and they were fantastic!! Everyone loved them!
I didn't even miss the red meat.

1 1/3 pounds ground turkey breast, the average weight of 1 package
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 large shallot or 1/4 red onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme leaves or 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves, optional - parsley may be substituted
1/2 small bell pepper, green, red or yellow, seeded and finely chopped
1 serrano or jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped
2 teaspoons, 2/3 palm full, ground cumin
1 to 2 teaspoons cayenne hot sauce, several drops (recommended: Tabasco)
2 teaspoons grill seasoning blend (recommended: Montreal Steak Seasoning by McCormick)
Vegetable oil or olive oil, for drizzling

I food processed all of the ingredients except the turkey meat, and then mixed with turkey meat. They have a kick to them, which I love. If you want you could always leave out tabasco sauce, and you could probably use the ingredients in regular burgers too. Phenom!

Re: Hamburgers

The Bacon Wrapped Burger
SO GOOD!

1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
1 small onion, chopped
1 egg
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 pound ground beef
6 slices bacon
6 hamburger buns, split

Preheat a grill for high heat.
In a large bowl, mix together the Cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, onion, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Crumble in the ground beef, and mix together by hand. Form into 6 patties, and wrap a slice of bacon around each one. Secure bacon with toothpicks.
Place patties on the grill, and cook for 5 minutes per side, or until well done. Remove toothpicks before serving on hamburger buns.

Our 'basic' burgers always have the following:

Chopped up onion mixed into the ground meat
Adobo
Peter Luger's sauce
