Running trails on LI and vicinity

I want to do more trail running. We hit up Caumsett and loved the mix of pavement and trails. Anyone know of any?

I thought about SM today but where do you park and how do you access them? Chat Icon

You go over straight over the little bridge and into the parking lot towards the right - you can access the boardwalk. You basically go straight until you come to the end and there is a lot towards the right. The trails are across the parking lot from the beach. There are some killer hills and just be careful to watch your footing, especially on the downhills. Great course though! Also, the bike path in Massapequa - there are trails that run along that area too.

Oh, I know! That's where we launch the kayak. I think there is a little river behind the parking lot. Thank you!

the parking lot is on the left if you make thsat right and go to the end.

You can cross the footbridge across from the parking lot and make a left on the trails and follow them. Once you make the left there will be a long and windy hill ("snake" hill) if you go straight. it will curve to bring you back. if you follow the trail, after bending to the left at the bottom of the hill, straight until the trees (chain link fence) make a right and go to the end (parking lot) and follw the trail just before you get to the lot and it loops back up. Go straight ( long incline) and you will cross the paths you have already gone on (picnic area). Go straight into the woods. There will be a sharp left and you will be at the base of "cardiac" hill. When you get to the top, take the left (it's an open path, not into any woods) and follow that loop around in a clockwise direction and it will bring you out to the picnic area again. Follow it straight and it will bring you through a small opening with a small downhill and a "moat" bend to the right to go around the water and it will take you back to the parking lot.

This is about 3 miles.

this is the best map I can find of it: link It's the area around miles 5-10 (but mile 6 goes further than the parking lot to the parkway - so you can add more there eventually)
