tube blockage

My HSG showed that my right tube is blocked. my left tube is clear.

the radiologist said that he couldn't unblock it and he can't tell if it's just blocked or if there's a fibroid blocking the entrance. if it's just blocked, there's nothing to do, but if it's a fibroid he said it can be shaved, but that can cause scarring, which could block it too....

the radiologist recommended that i should have this ultrasound to see what the blockage is.

i dropped off my films at RMA for my dr to review. i should hear from my nurse tomorrow.

we also have MF issues. DH's numbers are low.

i guess when i hear from my nurse tomorrow, i'll find out if we're going to do the clomid/IUI 1st or jump straight to IVF/ICSI.

sigh...

Re: tube blockage

Thats exactly what I was told immediately after my HSG by my doctor. Two months later I had a laproscopic surgery to remove the blocked tube, however when the doctor performed the surgery- guess what- it wasn't blocked. It was never removed.

Three months after that, started injectable meds/ IUI and round #2 got BFPChat Icon Chat Icon

Feel free to FM

I also went for second opinion and that Dr did suggest to remove it also. He did mention that YES u can still get pregnant with a blocked tube but decreases the chances every month. Its not impossible.

Good luck!

Re: tube blockage

Hi. I had a blocked right tube and my doctor did the surgery (laperoscopy). When he started the surgery he said if he could repair it first that was his first choice. If he couldn't he was just going to "snip" that side because my right tube was always filled with fluid and he felt that the fluid might be leaking into my uterus preventing me from getting pregnant. Well, he snipped my tube and two months later with injectibles I got pregnant. I am due in 6 weeks! It can happen - all you need is one tube so don't worry! Good luck!

Re: tube blockage

Both of my tubes were blocked with polyps. I had surgery to remove them (after my OB said they wouldn't be able to be removed....my RE took them out) and am now preggo, so try to stay positive until you know more about what is going on.
Plus, you still have one open tube, which is good!

Re: tube blockage

I'm sorry this is going on, but I'm sure its something that can try to be repaired. Its best to go to a physician that specializes in these cases, to make sure its done with great caution.

Re: tube blockage

thanks ladies!
i appreciate your support and sharing your experiences with me.
I am still waiting to hear back from my nurse.
i am with a top dr at rma, so I am confident that he will be able to help me.

this has just been such an emotional week, and my head is finally clear this morning and i'm seeing the bigger picture that i can get pregnant w 1 tube.

i went monday morning for my 1st hsg. due to a leep i had in my early 20's, my cervix is very misshapen the radiologist had problems finding the opening. it was a very uncomfortable procedure. he was only able to see the left side b/c my uterus was spasming and he had a hard time getting in there.
i went to rma on tues, expecting to be dialated, but my dr was able to find where the opening was and took a picture for me to show the radiologist when where the opening is for when i went back yesterday for my 2nd hsg to see what was going on w/ the right side.
my 2nd hsg wasn't as uncomfortable as the 1st one, but i was much more crampy after.

my poor cervix has taken such abuse this week! lol
