Thyroid Issues
I just found out today that I have hyperthyroidism. My gastro took the test and called me with the results. He and my gyn are saying this could be the reason I haven't gotten pg again (I got pg last year but had a mc) Anyone have any experience with this? Do you suggest I see a regular endocronologist or an RE? Are there ppl who do both??? This is all new to me. I don't know if my insurance will cover an RE (I have very little infertility coverage).
I'm so scared.

i was diagnosed with pcos by my reg ob and decided to see a re. they ran a bunch of tests the first day they saw me and found i had issues with my thyroid. I was diagnosed with hashimotos/hypothyrodism. They initally gave me meds and i had them check my levels. Once i got pregnant i made an appt with an endocrinologist and had them check my levels etc.
i would go to a endocrinologist and have them adjust ur levels bc regardless if u see a RE you will need someone to check your levels once ur pregnant so u might as well find an endocrinologist that u like..
I know general physicians can also adjust ur meds but im a firm believer if theres a specialist for an issue u have then see the specialist.
How long have u been ttc'ing? Im sorry to hear ur mc last year. Have u been ttc since last year? if u have, then i would see a RE.

I would definately see an endocronologist - they will be able to get your thyroid levels where they should be and they can guide you as to how it is impacting TTC

I'm sorry you are overwhelmed with everything. Hopefully it will be covered under insurance and you can treat it.

I have the same thing and my RE actually told me to get an endocrinologist. So, I now see them every 3 mths for b/w. Basically, you will need the endo for a long time and hopefully only need your RE for a short time.
It could be a reason for your m/c. Or it could be something else. So hard to know. but, once its under control with meds, it should not be a problem.
If you have time on your side, maybe you want to get that under control and try on your own some more before going the more aggressive route with an RE. But, don't waste any time if you are a little older.

I have "hypothyroidism" along w/ pcos and it was discovered by my RE...I was put on Synthroid and my levels have since leveled out...I am under the care of a pcp, and have not been seen by an endo for my condition ...Good Luck

For your Thyroid issues, I would suggest finding a good Endocrinologist. I have Hashimoto but not yet Hypo nor hyper. My endo monitors me every 5 months with bloodwork and u/s on my thyroid. I have enlarged nodules on my thyroid so that's why he's doing u/s to see if the growth increases.

Don't be scared. Go to an RE because they really know the ins and outs of it if you are trying to get PG.
