those who rent/have rented in the past..
We just received the application for the apartment we're looking to rent, and in addition to a credit check they're asking for the following:
2 pay stubs
letter from employer about yearly sal./length of employment/position
salary 33 times the monthly rent
This is all normal right? It's our first time renting..
Also, it's a Broadwall mgmt. company. Has anyone rented from them before?

where are you renting? this seems pretty normal for NYC (dont know about LI) but would be crazy for where we used to live OOS

The first part, no. The second part I don't know what you mean. All the rest is normal.

That seems pretty standard. Broadwall has very nice developments, I'm pretty sure they ask for that stuff to make sure they are bringing in the tenants that can uphold there "reputation". When DH and I moved into our apartment we had to provide everything short of a blood sample, and I am sure if they could, they would have asked for one.

just a credit check when renting on LI

Seems normal--they probably just want to be sure that you have a stable income and will have no problems paying the rent.

That was the norm when we rented in NYC. Not sure about mgmt companies on LI but in NYC we had to provide all that.

I had to give 2 pay stubs and they called my employer when I was renting in a complex in MD.

on li i rent and i had to show them that i made a certain amount or had enough in savings to cover rent if lost job and had to call my employer to verify i was working. dh at the time was unemployed and my paystub was too low so i had to show my savings account.

thanks everyone! it's on long island, but the company has properties in nyc..maybe that's why
i think we're going to put the apartment under fh's name since they want all of this, just because i've only been at my job for 4 months..he's been at his for 4 years

Sounds normal, we had to give them 2 pay stubs and they ran a background check and credit check. We live in Queens.
