What do you do after an IUI?

My first IUI I went to work after.... (that cycle was a BFN) .. I was convinced that laying in bed for a few hours afterward might help.

Second IUI I layed in bed for hours afterward.. .(it was during a vacation from work) ......... BFN again ..


This is my 3rd IUI cycle and trying to figure out what I should do this time around post-IUI

I know they say you can go about your normal routine but for some reason it just feels better to lay down after. It feels like I'm helping things along- even though I know logically it doesn't really impact anything. What do you do after an IUI?

I lie on the table for about 10 min, then get up and go about my normal day.
Once the sperm has been deposited in there..there's no need to lie vertical for hours - its already where it needs to be kwim?

I know you feel like you want the optimal conditions for fertilization but our bodies are made for this and can get the job done whether you're standing up, lying down or hanging upside down!

Unless you dr says otherwise, you shouldn't let it disrupt your normal routine, I think it just ups the stress level if you do that, and that's what we're trying to avoid!

I worked from home that day, so after layng on the table for 10 min, i came home and planted myself on the couch for the day and tried to forget about it. Most people just go about their day as usual and the doc actually told me to go to work and do what I would normally do.

Yea, my dr's office says to go about your normal routine too .. but you know how it is! With such little element of control going through these issues.. .you just want to feel like you're doing something to help things along!!

Anyway I'll probably just go to work after if it happens to fall on a weekday........ which it probably will this time around!

Yes, I def know how it is, that's why I stayed home!

We also BD the night of the IUI... not sure if that helped our chances!!!

I hope this tme will be your last and you get your BFP!!!

I had one b2b IUI so far but it was unsuccessful I see Dr B also, and he told me to lay down for 10 minutes after the procedure, but I stayed laying there for at least 20 mins I know exactly how you feel but it doesn't matter escecially in the case of an IUI because the sperm is already up there. Well, after the IUI I went to work - it was a weekday - and kept thinking about how I should be home laying down and feeling bad that I went back to work because I might end up ruinning everything... But then I was thinking about all the women that get pregnant by accident, they're walking around after and they still get pregnant Plus, think about all the women that have IUIs and get pregnant I'm sure they follow the same instructions like we do and it works for them. The only thing I think we should be careful about is not to overdo it with getting tired, lifting heavy objects, strenuous exercise etc.

My first IUI they told me to lay there for 10 minutes so I did. Then I went to work.

My second IUI I didn't have the patience to lay there for some reason so I got up after a few minutes, got dressed, and went to work. I got pregnant with DS and DD that time!

I always went on with my daily routine.

We stayed there for about 15 minutes but I took off from work each time I had an IUI because I worked in the city and I didn't want to be stressed out. I had 10 IUI's before we were successful. Try not to stress out.

I had 3 iui total all 3 I did what I normally did, our last iui which results in our bfp, we went out and cut down our christmas tree and I carried a huge tree to our car with DH, so I don't think laying down has anything to with it.

With our IUI i barely layed down for 5 minutes, and the doctor said to go about my regular schedule. It was actually the day after thanksgiving that we did it so we had the day off from work, so we just took things easy

yep - 10 IUI's. 2 natural cycles (no meds); then 5 rounds of clomid, then 3 rounds of injections - with gonal f. all with IUI's. NEVER give up. I am due on June 24th - we are having a girl. I can not tell you the countless times i have spent crying when i was going through all of my iui's...but it all finally paid off. have faith in your doctors and be positive as best as you can be...even though it is hard. i never thought it would happen and it finally did.

I was the same way - I stayed home and rested on the couch for a while then would putter around the house. I know it didn't matter but mentally it helped me. But I'd watch a movie or something to try and pretend to not be thinking about it.
