Insurance and pre-existing conditions????
My dog is 8 and she's been through alot. We recently discovered a small lump on one of her mammories. She dosen't have insurance yet but i was going to sign her up for VPI because I'm afraid that if we take her in its going to be THOUSANDS of dollars woth of surgeries and treatments.
Does anyone know if they make you have the dog get a full exam before anything is covered (like human health insurance)???

Re: Insurance and pre-existing conditions????
Thanks!
The only thing I'm not sure about though is what constitutes a "pre-existing condition"
Like is it something that would be on paper before she got the insurance or if we buy the insurance and take her in are we in the clear...
idk maybe I'll just call them.
Thanks again for the link

Re: Insurance and pre-existing conditions????
IME, the condition does not have to be diagnosed before you purchased the policy. It just has to have been there... Since the lump is already there, it is likely a pre-existing condition. These situations are exactly why insurance companies have pre-existing condition clauses. They'd be out of business if you could just sign up for coverage as soon as you thought something might be wrong.
