PCOS question
For all you ladies with PCOS
my best friend has been ttc and was diagnosed about PCOS. Dont know much about it but she gained about 30 pounds in the past 2 years and the doctor told her woman with this gain weight and have a VERY hard time losing it. The RE also said low carb may help losing weight with PCOS, but shes been doing it 2 weeks and no luck. Shes so said over this. I know how bad she wants to be thin again and I was wondering if you PCOS woman have had the same problem and if you found any ways to help lose the weight.

Re: PCOS question
i have PCOS and i dont have a weight issue although i find it hard to lose weight when i want to. im not overweight but would love to drop 10lbs in time for summer (if i dont get a BFP of course). she should ask her doctor about metformin to regulate her blood sugar. it should help with both the TTC aspects since it regulates other parts of the body that effect ovulation, and the weight loss since the blood sugar regulation generally helps with cravings and overeating - although some people (fortunately not me) experience some nasty GI side effects. good luck to her. PCOS isnt the worst thing in the world - its just annoying a heII!

Re: PCOS question
i have PCOS & when i want to lose weight, i cut out almost all carbs. 2 weeks isn't that long, tell her to keep it up and it will happen. she also should add in exercise.

Re: PCOS question
I have PCOS too and weight is a huge issue for me, the only way I can lose seems to be by limiting carbs and calories, its a sllooooowww process. Also like FlowerWife said, Metformin is supposed to really help with appetite and craving management, I just started it so I'm not sure but its def worth a shot!!

Re: PCOS question
I was also diagnosed with PCOS and noticed the weight gain. My doctor placed me on Metformin and I noticed that it helped with the cravings and amount of food I ate. I noticed that I started eating less and less, especially carbs, because if I ate to much it would make me nauseous. Talk to your doctor and see what they suggest. GL!
