Re: those who had 8 1/2 + pounders at birth...
my son was 9 lb 3 oz and they definitely fit - certainly he was wearing 0-3 pjs for awhile. I didnt get him too many 0-3 clothes though, I just rolled the sleeves & cuffs on 3-6 stuff. He was a cold weather baby so I could get away with that easier than warmer months.

Emily was 9-10 at birth and they Estimated 10-3 so they were pretty close. I had a c-section (planned because of her size) and she NEVER fit into newborn clothes! Thankfully we didn't have any!

Re: those who had 8 1/2 + pounders at birth...
At 41 weeks they measured Ryan at 9lbs 11oz. HE was born the next day at 9lbs 4oz. Newborn clothes fit for about 1 week. He never fit into newborn size diapers.. straight to the size 1's. I chose to have a c-sect because I was making no prgress and the Dr was afraid that he could get stuck in the birth canal. I have no regrets at all.

my son was 9 lbs 8oz and my daughter was 8lbs 10oz... newborn clothes fit them, but not for very long at all.... I mostly used 0-3 months right from the beginning.
Same here. My daughter was 9lbs 1 oz. I never used Newborn diapers either.

Re: those who had 8 1/2 + pounders at birth...
Caiden was born 10 12oz. We knew he was measuring big so we didn't even bother with newborn clothes. He also didn't wear newborn diapers, he went straight into size 1!
The ultrasounds I had were right. Well, as right as they could be. My last ultrasound for size which was 6 days before due date he was measuring 9lb 12oz, but they always say 1 lb more or less. Well, he was born less than 2 days later and he was indeed 1 lb HEAVIER at 10lb 12oz. So I believe their ultrasounds. It also depends on the sonographer doing it, and how skilled they are. Good luck, and I hope she doesn't get too big!
But there's nothing wrong with BIG babies... when they're born, you know which baby is yours for sure, (Caiden was twice the size of all the other babies in the nursery) and you don't feel like you'll break them!

My son was 9lbs 6.5 ounces - 22 inches so I skipped newborn clothes and went right to 0-3 months.

LOl!
No.... I had a c-section though I did go into full blown labor the night before the scheduled c-section! Just my luck!
I'm probably going to have to have another one with this baby because my doctor said the 2nd one is usually bigger! Especially if it's a boy! I'm probably looking at an 11 lb er'!!!

Re: those who had 8 1/2 + pounders at birth...
My son was 8lbs 3 oz and I put him in 0-3 months right away. I think I could have put him in newborn for a couple of weeks because the 0-3 was huge on him. He stayed in 0-3 for abt 3 months and then he was in 3-6. You could always get 0-3 and too big is better then too small.
