SO FREAKED OUT RIGHT NOW!!!
Ok.. so we had an exterminator come in for our cave cricket things in the fall.. he said we had no signs of mice.. well.. tonight I am sitting here in the quiet.. and I feel like I can hear squeeking.. we have no signs of mouse droppings anywhere.. am I just going crazy? Can we have a mouse and not see any droppings? where would they be??? I will not be able to sleep at all tonight.. in fact.. I want to go out and buy a trap tonight..
opinions? advice?

On the occasions we've had mice I've never heard them squeek. Could it be a bird outside? We've had some very strange bird noises at times. Or maybe the crickets - they might be death chirps as the sprays are doing them in?

Yeah, if it were mice you wouldn't hear squeaking as much as you'd hear things scurrying inside the walls and inside the cabinets. When we had them at our old apartment, we'd hear them foraging around in the garbage can under the sink. 
So movement, and droppings are what you're watching out for. Mice aren't subtle. Look for droppings under the sink, behind the stove, on the side of the fridge etc., and if you don't see any, you're good. The squeaking was probably just a bat or a ghost or something.

i agree with other posters, squeaking noise was probably not mice since you'd hear scurrying in walls rather than actual squeaks.
wasn't crickets either - at this time of year, they're just 'hatching' and starting to grow and are tiny little things. They get huge during the summer and fall.
And the ones we have (cave variety) don't make any noise anyway

I lived in the city for 5 years and in one of our places we had a mouse problem because we lived above a restaurant. Learned that lesson the hard way. I can tell you that yes you do hear them squeek so I would call that exterminator back if I were you

We had mice in our apartement a few years back.... We tried every trap possible and they seemed to eat the food and run..... We finally bought those traps that do NOT kill them... the ones where the door shuts.. you can get them at home depot. They actually worked. But when you release them you have to let them go at least a mile away or they find their way back... supposedly. We also hired an exterminator, but the traps made me feel better cause I knew they would go where there was food and not in my br or lr.
