has anyone ever heard of this?
My friend went for her 20 week sono yesterday and the doc said the baby is fine. However they saw something hanging like a tear on the sac the baby is in. I have never heard of this and she seem comfused by their explanation also. She is going to the hosp. Wed for a more detailed sono.
Just wondering if anyone knows what this is?TIA

If there is a tear in the placenta that means that amniotic fluid could be leaking out. I *think* sometimes this can repair itself (not completely sure though) I am sure they are just being thorough

Re: has anyone ever heard of this?
Could it be amniotic band syndrome? I am copying a sentance about it below but I wouldnt even mention it to your friend unless she knows this is what it is as it can be pretty scary. It is very rare so its probably not this.
Amniotic Band Syndrome also known as Amnion Rupture Sequence is an uncommon process which begins when the amnion (the inner membrane of the placental structure) breaks. This exposes the fetus to fibrous bands from the amnion and chorion (another membrane of the placental structure) which may wrap around portions of the fetus.
