Anyone's DH do roof themselves?

DH is on this kick to do the roof himself. We lost quite a bit of shingles after that bad storm & although the roof is only 5 years old; DH says they put the roof on wrong (we moved in 3 years ago).

I'm SO hesitant to have him do it himself (w/ a roofer guy friend). It's so much work & he'll be taking the week off work too...but a roof is so important & I want to make sure its done right & QUICK.

Yet there's no talking to him. He said hiring someone would cost us about 5k more than doing it himself.

Now he's at the point where he thinks he can also take off the other 2 roof layers (he was going to hire someone to take it off & cart it away).

HELP....

(He can do it & does electrical/plumbing, etc. all the time, but its our roof & its so much work).

Welcome to my world!!! Luckly, for me it's only our garage roof and one of DH's friends is a roofer, so he's coming to help him that day so I'm not in a huge state of panic. But doing the roof on the whole house!?!?!? Yeah, I'm with you....I'd be freaked out about that. Maybe try to convince him about how much more $$$ it will cost if something gets messed up or how you feel bad that he is utilizing his time off to do such annoying work. Look for another, less "important" project you can suggest he do instead?

Compared to all the other things he can already do (quite good from your pics) I wouldn't worry. My brother did his own roof and he's only an electrician!
