Yearly well visit and shots
How much does yours cost? How many shots does your dog get yearly? I feel like they get 5 shots each, isn't that a lot for primarily indoor dogs?

Re: Yearly well visit and shots
I have really really strong feelings about the over vaccination of our pets. I usually keep my mouth shut because I tend to get a little crazy with it. Having said that...5 shots all at once is really overwhelming for your dog's system. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

Re: Yearly well visit and shots
My dogs get a lot of shots, the rabies is only once every couple years though. My dogs are primarily indoor dogs... they go outside to do their business and then play a little bit.
I get all the vaccines the Vet recommends... Bordetella, Rabies, Lyme, Leptospirosis... there's a couple others. We live in an area where there's a lot of wildlife and ticks though so, even though my dogs aren't outside a majority of the day ... they can come in contact with a lot of diseases. It can get pricey but, I don't like to take chances.
ETA: My vet doesn't give them all in the same visit. He only gives them a couple per visit. That way if there is a reaction... we know which vaccines caused it.

I kind of feel the same way. i think the pets vaccines are getting out of control just like they are doing with our kids.

Re: Yearly well visit and shots
I pay about $300 a dog once a year. That's for their shots, checking their stool, heartworm test, and heartworm pills. They get the bordatella, distemper rabies, leptosperosis shots.

i take Jack to Petco yearly for his shots aroud his They have a saturday clinics for our pets. Total abt $50 - $60 for depending on what package you choose and it covers mostly all you would need. The vet wanted over $250 for the same meds so i get the shots at Petco & just a chk up at the vet yearly

Re: Yearly well visit and shots
I don't remember price, but my vet allows us to do shots every other year instead of yearly for most of them and we break them up in seperate visits, and he doesn't get all of them. we actually don't give him most things. he gets rabies as required by law, lepto, lymes and distemper I think, and I believe thats it. my reg. visit is $60 and I can't remember how much the shots are on top of that, last year was a skiped year except for lepto.
But- my dog doesn't go outside very much, he can't go for walks, and is an inside dog for 95% of the time. so while this method works for me, I would suggest reviewing with your personal vet what is best for your pet. HTH
