How do you pick a good avocado?
What do I look for?
I got some today to make guacamole and I just picked ones that weren't soft....but I really don't know what I'm looking for

I pick the ones with the stickers that say "ripe"

I was going to say..if you are making guac that day, they need to be SOFT...dig around, they're in there! If you need them to ripen quicker, stick 'em in a paper bag..enjoy!

I love making guacamole! When you press the skin of the avocado, if you can push it in just a little bit then it's ripe. If it doesn't yield to any pressure at all then it's not ripe.
If you happened to buy some that are not ripe at all, you can put them in a brown paper bag overnight with either an apple or banana inside the bag. There's something about the gases that those two fruits emit that cause avocados to ripen.
