Question for all the runners

Hi ladies!!!
I just had a baby last month. I am planning to start running. The last time I ran was in High School which was back in 1990!!!

Anyway- how should I start- is running around the block a good start?
Do you feel like certain songs on your Ipod motivate you?
Im not a small person...........yet.........
but I am determined!!!

Oh- and any other advice you think might be beneficial to a beginner runner......

Thanks!!

Re: Question for all the runners

Congratulations on your new baby! I had baby #2 back in November. Since you have not run in a long time, my suggestion is to start off with a run/walk. For example, walk 3 minutes, run one minute. As you feel more comfortable, increase that. Maybe do intervals of run/walk for 10-20 minutes to start. This way you do not jump in too quickly. You just had a baby, your hormones and body are not completely back to normal, so you want to avoid any added stress by not trying to do too much running too fast.

I have to update my ipod, but I love songs by The Killers to get me motivated, along with these:

Run to You - Bryan Adams
Rocky theme
Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen
Vertigo - U2
Beautiful Day - U2
Lose Yourself - Eminem

Yes, I'm old and a dork!!!

Try the c25k plan. I will bump it for you.

Read your body, go slow and don't think fast is the purpose.

Re: Question for all the runners

I also highly recommend the couch to 5K plan. I'm doing a modified version of it too (after baby #3) and my DH just started too. I also highly recommend you invest in a good pair of running shoes. I already injured my ankle from not having a proper pair.
