What color shutters?

My house is a splanch. It is white aluminum with red brick near the front door/kitchen windows.

My garage door is brown and my shutters are garbage can green

What color would do repaint the shutters (and possibly the garage)?

Should I
a. do brown shutters to match the garage

b. change the color completely on the shutters & garage? (What color would you suggest?)

c, leave the garage brown and paint the shutters another color? (again, what color for the shutters)?


I was thinking deep red, just because the brick is red but wasn't sure if it was too much against the white ...

Gray Roof.

These pics are OLD. The big pine tree is gone, as is ALL the bushes. We're in the process of laying grass/sod. So there is a clear view to the house from the street now.


Garage to the left, kitchen in the middle (where the brick is), living room to the right (behind where the pine tree was)

Shutters are on 2 windows upstairs and at the front door.

Since you have a gray roof, you could do the shutters and the garage door in a darker gray.

Or you could do a blue for the shutters and the garage door.

Eddiesmommy posted this pic yesteray. I love this color blue on the house with white. It would just be the opposite on your house. Just a thought.

I would paint the garage door black and do black shutters.

My neighbor across the street has the exact color with white accents I love that house.

I was thinking black. Then thought maybe brick red, but wasn't sure because the shutters at the front door are on the brick itself. Plus, what do I paint the ugly metal on the storm door?

The entry is set up weird. From the storm door you walk into a tiny vestibule. The front door is oak colored, but you don't see it at all from the street, only once you step into the vestibule. I want to paint that vestibule eventually too (it has paneling, I am thinking of painting the same as my downstairs hallway - BM Woodmont Cream) but the door has to match the interior of my house (again I was thinking black, LOL).

I think I can use rustoleum spray paint on the storm door metal. All white is better than the white with blackmetal , right? It's such an old-style door (that I cannot afford to replace right now) so I just want it to blend into the background as much as possible.

ETA: Not sure what the brick looks like underneath the shutters, so I am leary of taking them off (they used HUGE bolts, that are painted green of course! to bolt it to the brick).

I think black is the way to go, until I can reside the house and really fix it up.

I can't get my computer to recognize my card reader (I'll try tonight). It looks a mess without the trees/bushes --- all dirty white rocks & dirt. Hopefully we'll have grass over the next few months.
