Laudry basket/hamper help!!!!!

Can some help me come up with a creative alternative for a lundry basket?

We do not have a washer/dryer in our apt so we usually only get to do laundry about every other week. We have alot of clothes and no where to put them. We have a pretty big bedrrom and the clothes usually end up in a big pile in the corner. I CAN NOT STAND IT ANYMORE!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Regular and even XL laundry hamper are way too small for the amount of dirty clothes we accumulate during the week. We have huge laundry bags that we use when we are ready to do laundry but they are not practical for everyday use. We are looking for something that we can just throw our clothes in everydays so they don't end up on the floor. I was considering just getting a few of those huge outdoor garbage bins but I don't think those will look very nice in our bedroom. One big container of some sort would be ideal but I am at a lost on how to find some that is not ugly.....

PLEASE HELP I AM DESPERATE!!!!

Re: Laudry basket/hamper help!!!!!

They don't make any hampers big enough. TRUST me. I've looked and looked and looked.

The ONLY thing that maybe comes close is the sectioned laundry hamper - just pay no attention to how it's supposed to be used.

Like this:

Link to site if picture doesn't show up - Avon - $25.

eta: even that looks too small.

Thank Ladies!

Something like this would help if it didn't have the sections to it.

Not really. We want something we can just throw the clothes in with out thinking about sorting...... We sort everything when we bag them up to go do the laundry. If it was just me by myself, the yes the sections would help. But with DH, there is not point in having sections. He would just throw his clothes in it and not pay attention where he puts the white or the colored clothes. It would all have to be resorted anyway....

I would just not pay attention to the sections and using them for sorting....just throw them into whichever section they fall into!!!

Re: Laudry basket/hamper help!!!!!

What about getting 2 or 3 of the biggest ones you can find, and empty them into the laundry bags (which can be kept in a closet or something) when needed? (of course this is being suggested by someone who's dirty cloths are piled all over the floor right nowChat Icon )

Hey how about something like this???

Or maybe look for a larger size bedroom bench if your room can accomodate it????

Re: Laudry basket/hamper help!!!!!

That's what I suggested - get the sorted one and just don't sort.... That's probably what we're going to end up doing.

For only two people we have astronomical amounts of laundry.....or maybe it's because I only do laundry once a month. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Laudry basket/hamper help!!!!!

I would just get one (or more) stylish hampers that you like and use the laundry bags as liners. When it's full, pull the bag out and store in a closet until you go to the laundromat, and then just reline with another bag. That way there's no pile in the corner and you don't have to transfer clothes from the hamper to the bag.

Re: Laudry basket/hamper help!!!!!

DH and I each have our own hampers. One would not be enough for the two of us, and I do laundry every week in our complex laundry room. .
Mine is an open bin which I keep hidden inside my closet, and DH has this one, next to his dresser.

I sort when I get everything ready for the laundry.
