Re: the new whole foods..

DH and I used to trek out to the one in Jericho every few months to stock up on stuff we liked, this one is MUCH closer and 5 minutes from my job! So excited!

Before the Lake Grove store opened, we were talking to one of the cashiers at Jericho and they said they are planning on putting a Whole Foods on the south shore. She didn't say whether it was Nassau or Suffolk.

I'm so jealous - I live too far away
The closest thing to me is wild by nature in hampton bays which can be a bit expensive...

i am so annoyed that it seems only whole foods, fairway and trader joes only pick certain areas to place their shops in. I wrote on Newsday's website that I find it incredibly disappointing that they choose to ignore the south shore/western suffolk areas.

You can always predict where a new chain to LI will open their locations first. Western South Shore of Suffolk is never first.

It's usually:

- random western Nassau town
- eastern Nassau town like Hicksville, Plainview or Massapequa
- western North Shore Suffolk (Commack, Huntington, East Northport)
- central North Shore Suffolk (Lake Grove, South Setauket, Centereach, Smithtown)
- then the rest

Why do you think this is the case? I mean, there are a lot of South Shore areas out by me (Islip, East Islip, Oakdale, Sayville) that I think a Trader's or Wild by Nature would do great.

There's PLENTY of money South of Montauk in all the neighborhoods I listed above. I think they're missing out! If they build it...they will come!

How do the prices compare to Trader Joes? Trying to slowly add organic foods to our diet and really need my dollars to go far.

Prices are higher at WF, but WF is more like a conventional supermarket (and then some), while Trader Joe's is more limited.

WF also carries a lot more name brands and/or local items than TJ's. Their store brand items are decently priced but not as cheap as TJ's.
