i would DEFINITELY recommend trattoria l'incontro or piccolo venezia! also, i know it's not astoria but nearby in LIC, manetta's is awesome too!!

Definitely. This is my fathers cousins place. It's great and parking in Astoria is a plus.

Both of these are probably the best italian food I've had in all of NYC. I used to live right next door to Trattoria L'Incontro.  But Piccolo Venezia is also excellent, very old school, amazing food. I'm actually going there Saturday night for my anniversary.

awww.....that's too bad  i've only been there once but loooved it!
maybe check out piccolo then....like a pp said, it's totally old school but really good!

This place has been my family's "celebratory Italian restaurant" for DECADES  Even though we're Irish 
I prefer it 1,000 times to L'Incontro, which is just always toooooo tooooo busy for my taste, it's really LOUD and the waiters are scrambling all the time, it stresses me out!!!
Ponticello's is the opposite, just so CALM and attentive. The renovations they did are just BEAUTIFUL too!!!

yeah :( she was sooo disappointed about l'incontro..so i told her i'd come on here and ask my girls! :)
she is going to call ponticellos and venezia and see what happens..keeping my fingers crossed! thanks everyone for your help!

I've celebrated every event there from my Communion to my Baby Shower. My mothers from Ireland & my fathers from Croatia so he made all the food decisions. Not to sound biased since it's family but I love it there.
