Hardwood Floors
Silly question...are there different types of hardwood floors? Are some more expensive than others? Can someone tell me the pros and cons to the types of hardwood floors you have? Thanks!

Re: Hardwood Floors
We went with red oak. We got it unfinished and did the install ourselves. We paid 1.99/sq ft. for finished red oak it was about 3.99/sq ft. (we never asked the install price) bamboo is a more inexpensive option, at about 1.99/sq ft and that is finished. these we the prices we were seeing 6 month ago.

Re: Hardwood Floors
There are tons of different types of wood. We currently have red oak, brazilian cherry and kempas in our house. Look for 3/4" when you buy (it can be refinished more than times than the 1/2"). You can buy prefinished which won't be as messy since there won't be any sanding. And usually the wider the plank, the more expensive. I think the red oak is most common.
