stupid comment

I am teacher and I work with a para in my classroom. She knows that we're TTC and that I have been seeing an RE.

Yesterday we were alone in the room chatting about the house I'm closing on next week and this is the conversation:

her: You don't think you're too young to be having a baby?

me: No, my husband and I really want to start a family. And anyway, I got married at 23 which was about 2 years ago.

her: Yea, but I figured since you were buying a house you would want to live there for a while and just enjoy it.

me: Well, I have at least 9 months to be in it before the baby

UGhh I wish I had a better response at the end but I was pretty much dumbfounded by her stupidity. First of all.. we started seeing an RE. I've been injecting myself with meds, getting monitored 2-3 times a week... WHY would she say these things to me?! OF COURSE I am confident that I want a baby and NO I don't think I'm too young OR that it will make me enjoy my new house any less

I felt bad when she said those things because to be honest, that IS something that DH and I had spoken about a few months ago... that we wanted to be able to enjoy the new house to its fullest pre-baby.. though ultimately we want to start a family and we're THRILLED and excited about it!!!!

I just can't believe people sometimes. They think they have free reign to say literally ANYTHING!!

I really can't believe some people sometimes.

The line that everyone always tells me.
"Well your still young and you have plenty of time to have children"

DH and I are 29.
The best is when people who have children tell me to wait.

Maybe I would tell a young HS/college student to wait since they still have so much to experience. But not to someone who is in their 20s and is married.

People are harmless is saying this. I think they just want to offer some good advice. Its hard for us to take it b/c we are all ttc and we probably look more into what they say then ever before.

Don't let it bother you. But I totally understand where you are coming from.

some people! How is that any of her business?! And what you cant enjoy having a house while being preggo or with a baby in it!

Next time I think I would just tell her to mind her own business.

ugh the morons we have to deal with! Sorry about that.

I have to admit that nobody ever made PG comments to me until I had a miscarriage (nobody really knew about it except immediate family) Now everytime I run into some idiot I haven't seen in a while, they're like "no baby yet" "when r u having a baby" "it;s time for a baby now" I just laugh and change the subject when I really feel like telling them to Shut the F up!


The best thing to do is ignore them!

ETA: You can always reply using that funny famous quote "You know my grandfather lived to 100 years old, you wanna know how? By minding his own F**king business"
