Bagels on a plane?
We have someone flying down south this week to Atlanta. Rumor has it the bagel are not up to par with NY's so we'd like to send bagels with the person.
They weren't planning on checking luggage. They can't take them on the plane with the new rules, right?
Only way is to check the luggage, right?

Re: Bagels on a plane?
You can bring bagels on the plane. The restriction is on liquids & gels, not food. I am not sure what the TSA considers cream cheese if you were going to include that.

You can bring bagels on the plane. Our OOS visitors do it all the time.
Last time, one of the attendants asked "Ok, who has the bagels and are you sharing?". The everything bagels gave them away. I'd store them in gallon size plastic bags before bringing them on.

Re: Bagels on a plane?
Jus make sure they have room in their carry-ons.. if they are already set on not checking luggage, I'm guessing they have already met the max carry-on rule of one larger item and one "personal item" (aka purse, laptop bag). Some airlines won't let them bring on a third, like a shopping bag full-o-bagels.
Then again, I've seen people bring 5 carry-ons...
.. I just cringe at the thought of lost bagels doe to overhead compartment space restrictions!

Re: Bagels on a plane?
My mother ALWAYS bring me LI bagels when she comes to visit me, usually she packs them in her luggage. Imagine the smell of delish NY bagels permeating the whole cabin of the aircraft....pure heaven!

Re: Bagels on a plane?
You are right, the bagels in Atlanta are NOT GOOD...more like rolls than bagels!
Like the others said, the bagels can make the flight, just make sure they are either in the small personal item that fits under the seat or in the larger one that fits overhead.
