Re: during the off season: what parks
If you're a dork, I'm a dork. I have thousands of pictures of my dogs! I take them to the beaches in Smithtown. I actually printed out the area of the Town Code that says we're allowed to do it and keep it in the car. I have been approached by people telling me we shouldn't be there, believe it or not. So I keep myself informed.

Re: during the off season: what parks
I still go to Gardiners in the winter. It is alittle less crowded but Connolly still has plenty of friends to play with. He loves it so even when it was snowing and 6 inches on the ground, my DH took him. He went in the water too....eeek.

There is Short Beach and Long Beach. I like Long Beach better. It's a shorter distance from the parking lot to the water and you can walk along the bluffs, there's a building with amenities like bathrooms and picnic tables (not sure they're open this time of year) and there's also a bay side you can walk around.
You wanna hear dork? I collect rocks and shells from different places we've been and the first time I was there with both dogs, I picked up a beige rock for Ginger and a brown rock for Brinkley. They're on my desk to remind me of the furkids and what a nice day we had together.

I wouldn't recommend Coindre Hall lately, apparently the State Park Police are a very strong presence there lately and they do write tickets. I would try Sunken Meadow if you live over there or Long and/or Short Beach. I've taken Misty to Long and Short Beach during the winter and never had a problem.
