Starting Clomid with questions
Hi girls, Quick question...i am going to start clomid next cycle. I know i have read that it is best if you are monitored? is cd21 bloodwork enough to monitor it? I'm not sure if i should stay with my ob or move on to an RE!
thank you so much! ps I love seeing all the BFPs!!!!

Re: Starting Clomid with questions
I think with anything its a personal choice... personally being monitored by and RE or someone is best. On clomid your cycle can move more quickly than usual.. monitoring the follicles and your bloodwork is so important to catch your Ovulation. Clomid can affect your lining and your O cycle so when you are monitored they can track this.
With that said, not everyone is monitored. I would def use at home testing for lh surge and if you feel anything abnormal call your dr sometimes follicles grow big and fast and once in a blue moon cysts occur.
Good Luck! I have had success with clomid in terms of good follies!

Re: Starting Clomid with questions
You can try for a few months with your RE, but I agree with the PP who mentioned to monitor you O at home and maybe take some Robitussin (Clomid can thicken yor CM)
Good luck!!!!!

Honestly, I wouldn't waste time with your OB. I did that and I REALLY regret it now. CD21 bloodwork is definitely not enough when you are prescribed such a major fertility drug like Clomid. You are only allowed 12 cycles (correct me if I'm wrong) of Clomid in a lifetime because it thins your lining each time. From experience, I would say to go straight to your RE where they will monitor you very closely! HTH! GL!!

Re: Starting Clomid with questions
I agree with above:
You are really interested in how many mature follies you are making on Clomid. You want to know if you are failing the dose (not making more than 1) and bloodwork will not tell you that.

Re: Starting Clomid with questions
Prior to seeing the RE, I was under the care of an OBGYN, for 7 cycles of timed BD and Clomid....I didn't leave there because I was too comfortable and kick myself every day for it...I was not properly monitored with sonograms, was never sent for a HSG to check that my tubes were clear...He also never told me that Clomid has a tendency to dry your CM ( which is what happened to me), so all the timed BD in the world probably would not have gotten me PG...From what I have been told, they do not reccomend being on Clomid for more than 12 cycles so I am very happy that I saw the RE when I did...
My DS is the result of Clomid/IUI on the 3rd cycle with my RE (I have pcos)
IMO- RE's truly are the experts when it comes to IF....
Good Luck to you !!!!
