Can someone please tell me its ok...
DS is def. a belly sleeper...
When I lay with him, he always wants to lay belly to belly- and Im ok with that since, Im laying with him, I can make sure he isnt suffocating himself...
However- when I put him in his crib on his back or side... he immediately rolls onto his belly...
I continuely go in there and roll him back, and DH gets so mad... since alot of the times- I end up waking him up..
For the most part- every morning I wake up to him- asleep on his belly...
He rolls back and forth well...and I know "they" say once they can do that- its fine... but im still so paranoid...
Someone (barb are you out there ) Tell me its ok- so I can leave my son alone @ night!

Ryan is old enough that he can roll back and forth -- so if he wants to do the belly to sleep I say it is perfectly fine because he is definately old enough to change positions if necessary. I don't think it's something to worry about at this age. Em sleeps in ALL KINDS of positions and moves throughout the night and I know that as long as she can keep moving it's usually okay.

It's fine as long as they are strong enough to roll. Even with that, Gianni was a belly sleeper at birth and changed after a while.

It's absolutely ok! I read/was told as long as they can roll on their own it's ok for them to sleep the night on their belly. We've started doing this with Alyson in her crib...she'll actually FUSS to be put on her belly!! And in our bed...she rolls to her belly to sleep as well.
What wakes her up is her body temp...she gets SO hot that it wakes her up and we need to flip/move her to a cool spot on the sheets.

Belly Sleeper Advocate to the rescue! Make sure his sheet is tight, nothing in the bed with him - place him at the foot of the crib with his feet towards near the edge of the crib.
Sometimes they're just belly sleepers. At the next GTG, I'll bring the book that discusses physical development in infants for anyone who wants to read it - also I have how to teach your baby how to read, and a bunch more. You can browse through them at the GTG.

It's totally ok. Michael stopped sleeping on his back at approximately a month and half. And at that point it was very scary for me but he refused to sleep on his back. I would even try putting him to sleep on me then putting him down only to have him wake up 2 minutes after i put him down. Till this day (he's 17 months) he only sleeps on his belly.

The GTG is this Saturday.
I think it's okay to let him sleep on his belly. Just make sure there's nothing else in the crib.

Re: Can someone please tell me its ok...
My generation was put on their stomachs to sleep (I'm 30) and we ended up OK. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
They put kids on their back now because sleeping on your stomach increases the chance of SIDS, but it alone doesn't cause it. I also read that 90% of all SIDS cases happen to children under hte age of 6 months. I believe that Ryan is around 6 months - right. I wouldn't worry too much.

Its fine to let him sleep on his belly as long as he can turn himself over and lift his head up on his own.

I think its fine. He can roll around back and forth now and no matter how many times you go in to move him back, he will go back to his most comfortable position.
