my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

Ok, so...let's just say this:

I stayed over my parent's house which is closer to my job the night before the snowstorm (I can't be late or call out ever)

..so, I was running late and thought i'd just do my makeup in car as I got closer to work (figuring I'd have a few minutes)

...so there I was, bare-faced, hair a mess...and NO EFFING MAKE UP BAG!!!!!!!!!!!!

now, i am NOT one of those girls who can pull off fresh-faced.

I am a redhead, who looks like she has no eyebrows or eyelashes because they are super super light blond...i always have to pencil them in and use mascara..
and my skin sucks and I have to wear foundation...

thank god i had a hat.
needless to say , I took a way early break, went to CVS and bought makeup...

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! lol

Re: my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

I have been wearing eyeliner (practically a cat eye) everyday since I am 15. I have gotten quite good at drawing my eyeliner after all of these years.

So one morning, (I'm a teacher) a student says to me "Miss, you look different today...i don't know what it is...just different..."

After that class I looked in the bathroom mirror and had left the house SANS eyeliner!

I felt "off" for the rest of the day and always keep a spare at my Mom's and in my wallet (not bag, I change bags too much.)

Re: my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

On my second date with DH we went to a beach on LI at sunset to take a romantic walk before dinner. We somehow stepped on a nest of something, and before we knew it we were covered in welts and running back to the car screaming. I had bites all over my face and it was swelling up. I had tried to look all pretty, makeup and hair done, and now I had bites all over my face and I felt so disgusting! We nixed the fancy restaurant and went to CVS to get calamine lotion and then had to go to his parent's house because it was closest so we could put it on. Then we got Chinese food from a hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

But, hey, today is our first anniversary so it is both a horrible experience and a totally great one!

I never wear any make-up, ever on a daily basis. So when I do actually wear make-up, people always want to know what happened? Chat Icon

My worst beauty experience? It's a tie and they both deal with my bangs! First, when I was 14 and a frosh in HS, I asked my dad to trim my bangs (he always did them for me). Well, he didn't just trim them, he cut them totally off Chat Icon How I'll never know, but it was horrible!

And the second is right now, as I am in the process of growing those darn bangs out more than 20 years later! It's the worst and its taking so long. good thing its winter and I can wear a hat a lot!

Re: my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

My worst...10th grade in high school. I used to do my eyebrows. Well my mom did, she would put Surgicream (hair remover for the face) and pluck them. Well anyone familiar with Surgicream knows that it comes with the remover tube and a soothing cream tube. My mom had just finished my eyebrows and put the soothing cream on.
About 2 hrs later I was on the phone with one of my friends and I noticed my eyebrows were burning and crusty. I went into the bathroom and was so scared. I had huge blood blisters, they were bright red and when I wiped the cream off I was left with only a couple of stray hairs. My mom by accident put the remover on instead of the soothing cream.
Since I was a nerd and didn't want to miss school (LOL) I went the next day wearing a hat. A guy friend of mind smacked the hat down which opened the blisters and blood started running down my face! It was awful!!!
To this day my eyebrows never recovered, they are very patchy in some areas.

Re: my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

I had a big sty in my eye, and was forced to go sans makeup for a WEEK. I was mortified to go, and my students were like "Miss, why aren't you wearing makeup?"

That week, as I would walk down the hallway, I kept getting asked for a hall pass until teachers realized it was meChat Icon

The only thing I can think of is when I was in 9th or 10th grade.

I was babysitting and went to light the oven to make dinner and there was a small gas leak, so the flame blew back in my face.
Thank god I didn't suffer any burns.
But it burned off my eyelashes, eyebrows and singed my hair over my forehead.
Imagine going to school like this for a few weeks!Chat Icon

To this day I will NOT light a BBQ because of it.

Re: my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

Trust me I have called in sick to work (not often but I've done it) because I felt I looked too hideous to leave the house that day.

I give you credit because if I found out I didn't have my make up bag I would have turned around and went home to get it... late or not I would not have gone in the office with no make up.

I look HORRENDOUS without makeup. Scary.

That is just how vain I am! Chat Icon

Re: my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

It was the second night of our Hawaii honeymoon. We ate outdoors at this beautiful restaurant, I was wearing a sundress. Well, the mosquitos went crazy and I ended up with about 12 or 14 bites on my legs. I have this weird reaction to mosquito bites where they swell up hugely like the size of an egg. Needless to say, I looked awful, people probably kept their distance thinking I had something contagious!

Totally mortifying for the next several days to be on the beach, at the pool, just wearing shorts etc... especially on my HONEYMOON!!!!!

Re: my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

When I worked in the city one morning I ran out to the deli after getting settled into work to grab a coffee & some food. As I am walking back a bird sh*ts on my head.. it got EVERYWHERE. All over my head, face, clothes. I was crying. Seriously. Of course my coworkers were laughing at me. It was a very busy day at work and I couldnt leave so I had to wash off in the bathroom sink at work and use the cheap hand soap to wash my face and hair. Needless to say i was a disaster for the rest of the day and I felt so horrible and disgusting. I ended up buying a little makeup at lunch time but it wasnt the same and def. didnt help me feel any better!

Re: my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

Mine was last weekend:

As I was getting into the car (DH was picking me up from work), I somehow wasn't paying attention and slammed the car door into my eye (the top part where the window is). It hurt SO bad and my eye was all swollen and bruised. I looked like a battered woman, right before valentine's day. We had planned to go out to brunch but I was so self conscious that we just went to a movie (and I wore dark glasses until we got into the theater) and ordered food in. My bday party is this weekend but luckily it's healed enough that it can be covered by makeup.

When I was about 20, I read in one of my magazines that dawn dish detergent was great for zits. Well, I guess I didn't really READ the excerpt too well. So before I went to bed, I put dabs of the detergent on my face and went to bed. When I woke up, I ran into the bathroom expecting my zits to have magically disappeared. Well, dawn is STRONG, practically like acid. I had these red splotches on my face like it had eaten away at my skin. It took a few days to heal but I looked like a leper!!!

Re: my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

12 hours of our honeymoon............

We spent our honeymoon this past October in Paris and FLorence.
Well we loved Paris so much that every day we walked and walked for hours and hours each day. I also decided to hold in my pee A LOT..

SO we planned a romantic 1st class sleeper cabin on a train to take us to Italy...
We get in the train and it's DISGUSTING! It was like an old LIRR train..the "sleeper" was a couch that turned into 2 bunk beds Chat Icon Then we go to "dinner" and it was community dining and we had to sit with some really old couple from France..

Well, that's when my bladder infection kicked in Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

The entire train ride, I kept trying to pee and I couldn't. It was so horrible and painful.
When the train pulled into Florence after 12 hours of travel, I could barely walk.

Thank god DH speaks Italian fluently, we went right to a drug store and got some crazy pills to take..I couldn't even be scared, I was in so much pain I would have taken anything.
The 1st day in Italy was a wash, but by the time I woke up the next day I felt a million times better.

We saved the box of pills, not only in case it happens again, but as a memento of what saved me on our honeymoonChat Icon

The moral of the story? Don't hold in your pee for 5 days straight.

ETA: I consider this story beauty and fashion related because of the awful expression on my face the whole time! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: my worst experience ever - do U have a story?

Worst experience has to be when I tried to highlight my hair myself! OMG Ive never seen that shade of yellow in a human's hair before!

I was a bank teller at the time so I had to go to work, couldnt wear a hat and I begged for them to let me go home. It was way too busy so I had to stand there helping customers with electric yellow hair!

I had an appointment with the hair salon immediately after my shift was over!
