FOr those who are not SAHM's
what did you do when you went back to work after your maternity leave?? Did you send your child to day care, babysitter? I was just discussing with my DH that daycare is very expensive, we have no relatives that are able to watch a child due to the fact that most of them work themselves. What do most of you do? I need options!

Re: FOr those who are not SAHM's
I send my kids to a woman who watches kids in her house. She watches around 3 kids and charges 250.00 a week for both kids. I also have nobody to watch because my parents moved to Florida and I dont want my inlaws watching

Re: FOr those who are not SAHM's
I bring my daughter to a babysitter who watches Emily, her daughter and her aunt's daughter and she charges $6.25/hr. It works out to about $250-275/week.

I drop my daughter off at a babysitters house. She watches 2 other children (sometimes 3).

Molly went to daycare. I was not comfortable with a home-based sitter arrangement.
Daycare is expensive but it is part of having a child for many. I would never expect any member of my family to care for my child anyway.

Re: FOr those who are not SAHM's
we just hired a nanny. Bringing him to a babysitter wasn't much cheaper and we liked the convenience of having someone in our home on our terms and with his crib/toys etc. It is a very personal decision. We went back and forth and I can see pros and cons to both. We also don't have any family that is available full-time

Re: FOr those who are not SAHM's
Ava goes to a babysitter 4 days a week and DH watches her on Fridays since he is off. It's just Ava and her 3 year old son. It works out perfectly for us....I ususally spend about $180 per week.

Re: FOr those who are not SAHM's
Luckily I have my SIL and mom who watch Ryan during the week. If we had to do daycare, Ryan would not be here right now as we would have not planned to have a baby. We could never afford it.

Re: FOr those who are not SAHM's
Sydney has been going to daycare full time since 8 weeks old. We pay $260/week. For the summer we can drop to three days a week and save about $25 a week.
