Sweet Potatoes?
I am making sweet potatoes for dinner tonight but am really not in the mood for sweet potato fries like I usually make.
Any other recipes? When you mash them, what do you put in them to make them tasty, but still healthy?
Thanks!

Re: Sweet Potatoes?
For Thanksgiving I put in butter and maple syrup and I think I threw in a little brown sugar. It was delicous....sooo easy to make!

Re: Sweet Potatoes?
Easiest thing ever—doing “baked” sweet potatoes in the microwave, then serve with butter and cinnamon. You poke some fork holes in the potatoes, wrap them individually in paper towels, put in microwave for 5-6 min (depending on how big they are). Done! So good and fast, and not adding too much that’s bad for you.
Also for Thanksgiving my mom does make them with a maple syrup, butter, brown sugar and walnut glaze that is awesome but oh so bad for you. Great for special occasions but not so great for every night dinner!

Re: Sweet Potatoes?
Thanks! I like the "baked" potato idea for work!
The roasted potatoes sound really good--and I am making pork chops tonight and they'll go great.

Re: Sweet Potatoes?
Not the healthiest, but always a hit..
Candied Sweet Potatoes You'll need: 4 Sweet Potatoes 1/2 Stick Butter 1/2 Box Light Brown Sugar 1/2 Cup Water Boil 4 sweet potatoes, in their skins. After boiled, take skins off and cut in half long-ways Lay flat side down in baking pan (1 layer, don't stack) In a saucepan, melt the butter and then add the water and brown sugar Stir constantly until it boils Pour over potatoes in the baking pan Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, then flip the potatoes over and baste them with the liquid in the pan. Bake 15 more minutes.

Re: Sweet Potatoes?
I usually bake them (like a regular jacket potato) and then put on some butter and salt.
Sometimes I roast them - cut them into little squares - and toss them with olive oil, garlic and salt - then stick them in the oven until they are a tender inside.

Re: Sweet Potatoes?
I like them baked - with a dash of salt and brown sugar.

I made them this way also. Mixed the butter, syrup and brown sugar in a small pot. Peeled the sweet potatoes and cut them into slices. Poured the mixture over it and put it in the oven for about 1 hr. yummy!
