IUI question

How many IUI are done before you go to IVF?

Im going on #2 and Im preping myself mentally in case it goes that way.

I think it is all on an individual basis. I know with my Dr he said that he doesn't think I would need IVF. DH has "awesome" sperm, and I have a "beautiful" uterus (I think it's hysterical that my RE told us that!). I just need to get my PCOS under control and find the right "formula" of meds to get me to grow some follies. I'm going on IUI #2 with 150mg of Clomid. Should this cycle not work, I'll be going to injectibles.

I agree - I think it's definitely a personal decision. I think that you need to be comfortable with your plan of action in this process.

That said, my doctor recommended 4 rounds for us, and I do think that I hit on a few google hits that seemed to suggest that your chances of conceiving with IUI don't go up after 4 or so rounds, but I would imagine it has more to do with the reasons we are seeking RE help in the first place.

It really depends on your issues. We have uneplained IF and we did 6 rounds of medicated IUI's before we switched to IVF.
