Dr. recommendation

I started training for the 1/2 marathon and have been running 3-4 miles about 4x a week for the past 3 weeks. Last week I started getting some pain on the inside of my leg right below my knee on both legs. Does anyone have a dr recommendation or any advice? I really want to keep running but obviously don't want to do more damage.

Does this sound like what you have?

ITB syndrome - a really common running injury

Re: Dr. recommendation

to be honest I am not sure. The pain I have throbs and hurts when I walk. It really hurts when I start to run but then goes away during my run and as soon as I stop its back. I think it looks a little swollen on my inside just below the knee cap. I just took some advil hoping to see if that helps. I was thinking maybe it was tendonitis, but I am not sure.

you want to be careful if it is ITB. a couple of days of rest won't hurt this early in your training.

you might want to look into an orthopedic doctor - but make sure you go to someone who is athlete friendly. I had a podiatrist tell me to stop running (2 weeks before a race I was training for) for plantar fasciitis (which is a pretty common foot problem with running, but doesn't do damage unless left untreated for a long time) I went to another who helped me manage it while still running

I go to a chiropractor who does active release treatment (ART). It works wonders for me and this dr got me through marathon training a few years back. It is a tissue treatment, all natural. He takes most insurance, so it's probably just a co-pay. FM me if you want his info, he is in Massapequa. If he cannot help you, he will refer you to the appropriate doctor, but I always start with him because many times a few treatments with him does the trick. Feel better.
