return or exchange
Why are store ask for ID to make an exchange even if you bring your recipe and you paid cash?. This happen today to a friend of mine in NY&C and I am just curios as why. I understand if it was paid with a CC or if you are asking for a refund but for an exchange??

not sure why they do it for an exchange but every store is different
I work in a store and the reason they take the people's info for cash refunds is because its so easy to duplicate/falsify cash receipts and this is how they catch people who are stealing - they keep a record - you can't believe what people do...

ny&co does it because they track the sales and returns...if you make too many returns they like ban you or something from returns....its insane....I love that store, almost all my stuff is from there but they are a tad loopy with the return stupidity....thats why I always try on there and when I order online I make sure I like it in the store first

For people who buy and return A LOOOTTTTTTT. They will ban them from returning over a certain amount of items after a while. Target does the same thing. They banned my GF.

They look for patterns and also to make sure a sales rep isn't hooking up a friend or something.

When I worked at Gap, there was a program out where they could falsify a receipt quite easily. So people would steal clothes, and then return it with a false receipt to get the cash back.
It takes just a few to ruin it forever everyone one. I think it makes sense to take people's licenses
