Had my HSG and now feeling down...

My experience was extremely painful. I had to "hang in there" to see if the dye would go through my left tube which in the end it did not. I am grateful he found this issue, but also bummed out. If I don't get preggo this month with just the right side working, then he will put me on Clomofine?(spelling?) If that doesn't work after two or three cycles, it's IVF for me!

I was so overwhelmed that I didn't get to ask things like...does the blockage affect my health? Should I have it cleared? etc. Anyone have any experience with this topic? I am going to bring these questions to him when I see him next month. Thanks in advance!!!

I'm sorry you had a bad result. I know that feeling (they found a polyup in me). It's a hurdle to get over but keep the faith and remember we are here for you. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm so sorry it was uncomfortable, but beleive me, knowing is way better than not. I am still labeled as "unexplained infertility". Not knowing stinks!!!!!

Now that you "know" your Dr's will coem up with a plan, I hope the meds work for you

Re: Had my HSG and now feeling down...

I agree with the PP Knowledge is power and having unexplained sucks!! Nothing is easy but you can have a plan and begin to work on getting pg soon!

I had tubes clean as a whistle and was told " oh you will totally get pg now" well we didn't LOL

I am so sorry that this was painful for you and that you didn't get a positive result. Finding out things are wrong with us is always so hard - especially when it comes to fertility. It always seems like one problem is enough and then we go for all these tests and they find other things for us to worry about. I know it is hard, but it is important that you know and now that you know you can make the best decision!

Re: Had my HSG and now feeling down...

I had my HSG Feb 2009 and it was discovered that one of my tubes was blocked. At this point I was TTC for about 10 months. The Dr suggested I have my tube removed and that might increase my chances to get preggo.
April 2009 I had the laproscopic surgery and when the Dr went in, my tubes were NOT blocked. The Dr said the time of my HSG could have been that they didn't get a good reading. AFter April 2009 the Dr was convinced that I was going to be pregnant in 3 months, well, I did not. August I diid IUI w/ injectable BFN, then October round #2 w/ injectable I got my BFP!!

Re: Had my HSG and now feeling down...

I also had a painful HSG - cried all the way home! Its like it pain at the center of your woman hood!! Chat Icon
BUT heres the whole story:
During the 1st one the raidologist couldnt get either to fill. my local fertility dr wanted to try himeself (GOD ur kidding me again!!!!) and he eventually burst one side open and the other eventually filled but was very slow - they thought there was something blocking it. Horrible pain all over again and really still no good answers. He did clomid and other stuff around that time and had no luck, so I took a break.

I really like to try natural health treatments 1st (and paying out of pocket for IVF is so expensive that I tried cheapest 1st) so I started doing accupuncture and Myan massage. Ok so Myan massage is focused on the stomach, specificaly repductive system and can actually move the uterus into line (mine is shifted to the right slightly - was told it was not an issue that once I got pregnant it would move back - trouble is I never got pregnant!!!!Chat Icon ) as well as help to get the tubes to be more patent by increasing blood flow and stagnation that can build up in the stomach.
Myan massage also helps to release or strech the tendons that hold ur uterus in place so it can reduce back pain during periods. It has many other benifits - Im not doing it justice describing it but it felt great, cant hurt (unless you do it while ur pregnant so do pre ovulation) and you can do self treatments so reduces costs.

SOOO a year later after I still was not preg I went to Dr. B who ordered a repeat of the HSG - I was so scared to go through that mess again - BUT Guess what?!?!?!? the fluid went right in NO pain and tubes are completely open. And it was the same radiologist who did it the 1st time so it was not techinque!

I can only credit the myan massage - although many drs from the medical perspecitve still dont give a lot of weight to that (or any other natural health treatments) for me it had to be it! How else do you explain it?!?!? And my uterus did move more center while I was going regularly (you can tell by self exam)

Try it out! It cant hurt and I believe that it helped me a lot =)

Re: Had my HSG and now feeling down...

First off, sorry the HSG was so painfulChat Icon I had a similar experience. My first HSG confirmed that my right side was open but not my left. My RE explained to me that it could either be a blockage or a spasm that caused the fluid to not enter the tube. Definitely ask your dr all the questions you have so that you feel more comfortable and can make the best decision.

My dr gave me a few options. I decided on a repeat HSG and it turned out that there was a blockage in my left tube, which they were able to open up. Now both sides are open. Instead of going that route, my dr said we could try clomid so that I hopefully produced numerous eggs. If that didn't work, IVF (bypasses tubes).

You need to make the decision that is best for you. I decided on the repeat HSG because of my age (I am on the younger side) and the fact that IVF is far off for me due to lack of insurance coverage. I have unlimited IUI coverage and I wanted the best chance possible.

I dont live in NY but found my local practitioner thru this website.

http://arvigomassage.com/

It seems a bit new age from that site but trust me - it was a good experience and again I attribute the change in my tubes to those treatments.

I see several in NY - good luck!
let me know if you try it and what you think =)

Re: Had my HSG and now feeling down...

When I had my HSG, they found huge polyps in both of my tubes. Honestly, it was the best thing that ever happened to me! I was able to have surgery and get the polyps removed. It then only took a few cycles of Femara/Ovidrel and I am pg with twins!
There are TONS of options from here, so don't get down.
I am not sure if you mentioned it or not, but are you seeing an RE? I would really suggest that because my regular OB told me the polyps could never be removed and I would have to go straight to IVF....he was wrong!

Good luck!!!!!!!!
