Does Anyone Watch The Dog Whisperer

with that guy Cesar.. my DH watches it and everytime it comes on he starts going on a rant how our dog is spoiled and didnt have to earn his love or something to that effect.

Then he proceeds to do that claw hiss thing to the dog, I have to grab my baby from him and run

i find the hiss/ pssshttt thing he does to be annoying. has he ever explained why he does it? it seems to be more of an attention getter than anything, but i don't watch him religiously. when i do watch him work i get really mesmerized but i wonder about some of his techniques.

honestly i don't make my dog work for everything, but i do make him work for some things, like treats and toys. he doesn't bum rush his dinner bowl so i don't really have him do anything for it other than the occassinal sit. i give him free pettings and compliments all the time and invite him onto the couch w/o having him do something for it.

I watch it sometimes. I think I remember that he said the noise is like a verbal warning, a way to get the dog's attention, and then the next step to correct the behavior if needed is the sound + a touch. If you think about it, it IS very different sounding from anything else, like calling the dog's name or saying no, that they could get "desensitized" to.

I do not think i have ever missed an episode.. I dvr all of them on Nat Geo.. I attribute my well balanced dog to watching this show.. That hiss he does works like a charm.. My dog stops in her tracks the minute she hears it.. I even started to do it to my DD who is 7mos old ans starting to touch everything!!! its confusing Lola so much!! But its the best show and has helpd me really train my dog.. i am not kidding

Obessedddd...but I lack the energy he has and it does not work for me! My husband today that we may need to apply for the show....haha.
